Why not get a cleaner in, an hour on a Monday and a Friday, pay them the hourly rate that you get at work.
Problem solved, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
yup another flylady suporter.
Used to live in filth (well not quite) now the house always is clean and tidy and it only takes a mo becase i am on top of things
Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -
Ok - I know I'm being lazy and should just go check it out BUT....:p
what is this flylady thing all about??? :A0 -
I try my hardest to be a flylady but some weeks it is too much, there is also a support thread on Old Style now called My Home is a Mess where we lazy b1tches are supporting ourselves towards achieving organised homes. If you click on the flylady link on Pigpen's thread it will take you to Flylady, is you wander over to Old Style you will find us in the corner, cutting class.

Before I had kids I used to spend 2 or 3 hours on my day off to blitz the place and catch up on ironing. Then during the working week I would spend maybe an hour a day, cleaning the toilet, washing up and wiping the worktops down, washing workclothes etc. Putting things away as you go is important and saves a lot of time. This was just me as my ex didn't do any housework at all, if it is both of you it would take half the time.0

Wow fannyanna I thought I'd written that post myself and completely forgotten about it - you sound exactly the same as me!
I work full time, have no kids and can never be bothered to do a single thing around the house. Hubby also works full time hours and is pretty lazy too so our house is a pig sty the whole time! I agree with plans all plans, the only time I really tidy is when someone comes round but I don't have people over enough to keep it constantly clean - my family don't count they already know we're slobs!! :rotfl:
I might take a look at this flylady too - although I doubt it'll help, I'm too lazy and lacking in energy to actually do anything about it me thinks!0 -
FlyLady worked for me as well - and it's designed for people who are busy and easily distracted

I work and study, have done for years, but home is always at least passable (so long as you don't look in the corners because I hate hoovering most of all). I don't use proper FlyLady any more, but got used to most of the basics and do them automatically now.
Do FlyLady and reward yourself with the cost of a cleaner on something fun every week

I used to be very messy, but started getting better when my eldest was born. I suddenly felt more pride in my home. Years after years, I started to feel more bothered when the house was a mess, unfortunately, my ex did grow with me! My new partner is borderline obsessed on cleanliness and I knew that moving in together would be interesting for both of us... As it is, it's much better than I'd expected. I am finding that it does indeed take very little time to keep a house tidy and clean if you do it as soon as you've used the room. The rule in our house is you clean the shower after each use, to start with, I thought that was ridiculous, but in the end, it does only take a minute, so hardly affects my schedule, and the shower is always nice and clean. I think it is just a question of habit, once you get into it, you don't think so much about it any longer.0

Problem solved,
Not many cleaners will do one hour slots because they end up spending too much time travelling between jobs but a two hour clean once a week will work wonders.
It also makes you be a bit tidier because the cleaner can't clean if you leave mess everywhere.
If you hate housework, it's money worth spent.0 -
If you pick up after yourself and clean the kitchen as you cook wipe the toothpaste as it spills etc it makes a big difference to how long you need to spend cleaning...works for me.0
