Housework

Hubby and I (childless couple - so can't even blame it on kids) have a one bedroom flat which is often fairly messy. Now we're not completely disgraceful with piles of cr*p and a dirty home but if someone were to say they'd be over in 10 minutes I'd have a bit of a panic.

Now for me housework really is a chore - I know there are some randoms out there that quite enjoy / or don't mind housework. Well you're weirdoes :rotfl:

I work full time and generally don't get home until 7pm and by that time I'm tired and just want to relax. Getting some grub is enough of a chore let alone the thought of housework.

Now I know the problem is that I'm lazy and that there are people with hectic lives that manage to maintain a clean and tidy household but that doesn't help me. One thing knowing what the problem is but quite another doing something about it - need a big old kick up the backside :D

How do you guys keep on top of things?

With two children, and a dog, some things like dusting occasionally. I concentrate on vacuuming, washing up (my dishwasher won't fit in my kitchen! :(), laundry, and surfaces.

Prioritise, and things will be easier, and most importantly, don't beat yourself up about it!. :D

well having a OCD partner like mine does help lol !

he is obsessed with being clean and tidy so our flat is always immaculate to the point of weirdness hehe

I don't mind cleaning (its not my favourite thing in the world) but I do enjoy having a nice clean home that smells nice and is comfortable so we have something to relax in when we come from work etc :)

but maybe just drink red bull or have a cup of coffee once a week when you get in and do a manic clean lol
    :A What's for you, Won't go by you :A
  • I am also a hater of tidying!

What I do is invite different friends round to my house randomly once a week, so that I HAVE to clean before they arrive (otherwise I would be ashamed!) Try this tactic, it works for me!

Dont know im still waiting for the housework fairy to come back off strike action!!!

Seriously though im a stay at home mum with 3 kids and one on the way, and i hate hate hate housework!!

In fact i hate it so much i have resorted to bribing the oh into doing the housework and i will do anything else he wants me to do and i mean anything!!

Dont get me wrong i will pick up after the kids and do the washing and washing up and make my home generally tidy but if anyone is coming over then he's the one that guts the place.
There's this place in me where your fingerprints still rest, your kisses still linger, and your whispers softly echo. It's the place where a part of you will forever be a part of me.

I love cleaning and could live in a dirty or untidy house, mainly because I like my house and I like it to look nice. That exempts my 18 year old's bedroom of course, I would never dare to venture in there without a white suit and a gas mask, but the rest of my house is usually OK.

I don't keep on top of things haha.

No seriously, when we were childless we had a messy home and now I look back on it, I can't believe how messy it was now that I've got 2 kids.
It's EASIER when it's just 2 of you lol.

Everytime you get off the sofa, take a cup/plate/whatever is lying around WITH YOU into the kitchen.
When you've finished doing dinner, RINSE off all the pans etc and put boiling hot water in the sink so when you've finished it'll be warm enough to wash up the pans and your own plates.
You could have a rule where whoever cooks dinner, washes up?
Whoever put washing on, puts the out to dry?

    Or make a rota? (sp)

Good luck - it gets worse when you've had kids! lol.

I should mention that when I wasn't getting help for my depression OCD cropped in BAD and I annoyed my husband with my constant cleaning.

Sometimes I look at my house now and wonder if I should come off of my tablets just so I get a nice house hahaha ;)
