I really just want to get rid of this overdraft and close the account, my partner has a HBOS credit card interest free on purchases till September. Anyway I can pay the overdraft amount of £200 from the overdraft then just pay back the overdraft? Or is this not classed as a purchase this would maybe be classed as a balance transfer which I don't think we have an interest free period for.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Now just want rid of this overdraft as its causing me sadness! lol

    Thanks x
I assume you're considering pulling £200 from the credit card to pay off your overdraft? My personal opinion would be that this is NOT the best thing to do, as withdrawing cash from a credit card is NOT classed as a purchase and generally carries very high fees. I'd only ever use a credit card to get cold hard cash in an absolute emergency.

The best option (if you want to move the overdraft amount onto the credit card) is to use the credit card for day-to-day shopping, and then pay that amount off your overdraft - but you need to allow for the minimum monthly payment on the credit card going up, and also need to be sure you can pay if off in full before the end of the 0% period.

Yes that was my plan! but I understand the high fee's etc so would probs not be for the best.

    Thanks for your help! x
  • No NSD for me today as I was at Mr T's and they had some great whoopsies :) Still got 3, though, so I'm not worried.

Hello all! I'm pleased to report 1 NSD yesterday so I'm off the blocks.
Today isn't so good as I'm entertaining a bored student who should be writing an essay but can't find inspiration (!). Tea and cake and a look around a few clothes shops has sorted her out but thats £8 I won't see again!

No NSD for me today, spent £5 on my auntie. However, did resist oodles of temptation so very proud of myself all the same.
