Some time soon I'll have to go back to get the second half of my prescription - they hadn't got enough of them in when I was there. So I'll definitely remember to check out the offers on the machine before I do anything else in the shop.

Paperwork has now come through for new RBS savings account. I'll have to move a pound in there straight away to open the account properly, but then I'll leave it until my Halifax savings account gets to the end of its 2.8% interest rate (in April) before I move any more money across.

Pammy - thanks for the encouragment sig-wise, but I think I'll keep it small. Five lines of full size text is rather a lot. Yours isn't so many lines, so not so overpowering, I think.

Hello and thank you to everyone who's thanked/posted. You are all an encouragement to me.

Even so, I am slightly stunned to see the numbers sitting there saying that I have made very slightly over £10k of progress over the last year and a half. How did I manage that????

    Great progress Lois :T
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Why thank you, Froggy, Alchemilla and GG. (Hello also to Calfuray and teapot )

I didn't feel very inspirational this afternoon. Took kids to the doc - DD sat nicely in the waiting room while I took DS in for his appointment. Came out with a prescription for him (free because under 16). Dropped in on the pharmacy attached to Waitrose to get the stuff because it's just round the corner from the doc. They said it would take half an hour. Went into Waitrose while waiting, just to get table salt (for craft activity of DD's) and batteries (for DS's camera - needed for homework project). Succumbed hopelessly to kids' requests for stuff. :o DS was right that we needed more cereal, and he did mostly choose own brand stuff, but some of the other items were nowhere near as easy to justify. Oh dear. Never mind.

See, you are an inspiration though Lois. The only time I ever see you post about spending extra money is for things for your children.

I don't have children, and the extra money I spend is on coffees and other wasted things for me! So I can't talk :p

(In the nicest way) you remind me of my mum, she was single mother of 4 children - who were less than 6 years apart in age! She worked so hard for us, and I totally didn't get it at the time, we just wanted all the 'stuff'. Looking back now, I can see all these sacrifices she made for us, and things she told me now make so much sense: it's annoying that 'you'll understand when your older' is actually true! It's too late to tell her that now, so I'll just blab on your diary instead :p

Seriously though, you are amazing :T

Thank you - what a lovely thing to say. :)

Maybe it's just that when I fritter money on myself I don't admit it on here as often as I admit spending on the children. :o

Your mum sounds amazing. I find two challenging enough. But it's lovely to think that when they are grown-up they will be grateful for the things they don't understand now. Thank you. :)
