I took in my completed form and the lady only asked me about proof of address. I told her that it says that they would do a voters roll check, so she wrote that down on the form.
She them outlined the account and told me I should expect a response in about three weeks. She was very helpful and professional.
Hopefully I'm successful.0 -

You don't have any CCJs, fraud, etc... You will be fine.
If she didn't write taht down on the form, the staff receiving it in Leicester would know what to do. If you are not on the voters roll, they can send a letter to your address, where you need to confirm it.
All the best.0 -
I am not 100% sure what you are asking here, so I will answer the questions that I think your asking (if that makes sense).
1) Yes, you can have as many Basic Bank Accounts as you like. They do not affect your credit rating as they do not show on your credit file.
You have that so wrong! Basic bank accounts DO show on your credit file. I have recently seen my credit files, and the three basic bank accounts I have are all showing!
They do affect your credit histroy, even though I know they are not supposed to!0 -
I received my bank details from Barclays today. Debit card should arrive within five working days.
I was told that it would take three weeks but actually only took a week.0 -
Basic bank accounts too limited
Today on MoneyBox - Radio 4 - Midday.Since 2004 banks are committed to offering basic bank accounts for people who want to ensure that they do not overdraw their account.
But 6 out of 17 basic bank accounts surveyed do not provide a debit card, according to latest figures from the Financial Services Authority.
Debit cards allow customers to pay for goods electronically in shops and online.
This lack of access to basic banking services is being blamed for the rising number of people who have benefits loaded directly onto pre-paid cards.
Although charges vary, many card companies charge to have benefits paid onto cards, to take out cash, and often a regular fee as well.
But Money Box listener Gordon Wilson from Glasgow, says he has been refused a basic account by RBS, Natwest and Bank of Scotland on the basis of his credit record even though he is not seeking credit, and has not been declared bankrupt.
Banks can refuse a basic account to people who are bankrupt or have a history of fraud.
Gordon does not use a pre-paid card, but says his lack of payment options has left him walking around Glasgow with up to £1,000 cash in his pocket.
Francis from Liverpool says his basic account does not allow him to pay direct debits; he uses a pre-paid card to pay utility bills.

Hi
My wife (non EU national) is coming from abroad to live with me in a few weeks time and i want to open a basic bank account for her after she arrives, so rather than carrying cash around she can withdraw cash as and when she needs to using her cashcard (her account will be funded from my current account). Problem is that i won't have any proof of address for her, only her passport, national ID card and birth certificate. And i don't think she will be allowed to register on the electoral roll as she is a non-eu national. So are there any banks which would allow her to open a basic bank account without providing proof of address? If not, could i apply for a provisional driving licence for her and use that as proof of address?

you can still put her on the electoral roll if she comes from a country that is a member of the commonwealth.:T£100 into £10000 challenge. Getting there 1150/10000!!!!!:j0
