It hasn't. The account still exists but you only get a cash card now. I called and asked this morning as I was in the middle of applying but will be going elsewhere now.

does having an iva stay on your record forever like bankruptcy? how do you manage to renew your mortgage etc when in an IVA? Would it be an obstacle to ever wanting to emigrate etc?

Don't know why. I think you should call to find out.

IF they say it will become a cash card when it expires, you could close it if you want. Then use an account with a debit card you currently have, or open another one at a high street bank.

Has anyone applied for an account with Yorkshire/Clydesdale over the phone?

I was really hoping for an online option as I cant really make it to the branch. I was wondering how easy the process was via the phone... any ideas?

Not tried Y/C but Co-op Cashminder was really easy over the phone to apply.

The basic account with the debit card was a trial run, its been withdrawn now. If you have an account with a debit card, you will get a debit card when it expires.

They are planning to open the product again in the future, dunno when tho. she just said "soon".

I applied a week ago for the Bank of Scotland easycash account to get the Visa electron card. I haven't heard anything since submitting the online application. I didn't even get an email confirming they got my application. Is this normal? Should I call to see whats going on or should I wait a couple more days first?

I applied 3 months ago and I immediately got a message saying that they had received a lot of applications for this type of account and therefore I would have an extended wait for them to deal with my application.

I just went elsewhere as there are plenty of better basic accounts out there, I guess it's understandable these types of accounts are at the bottom of most bank's list of priorities.

Hope yours comes through eventually if you're set on BOS ;-)
