  • Just thought i`d say that my dp applied online for the natwest step account said he was accepted online, then got a letter confirming what he`d put on the online form, signed it, sent it back & a couple of days later got a letter with his new account number on! All this within a week, couldn`t believe how quick they were!:T

Yeah, the turn around in my experience for the Natwest - Step Account is pretty quick, both online and in branch.

When I applied (sometime ago) my account was opened within 30 minutes.

I'm loosing track of how many accounts I have now :)

    Just a wee extra note,

The Clydesdale bank version of the Yorkshire Bank 'Readycash' comes with Post Office facilities... Cash & Cheque deposit, which might be useful for some people.

I do voluntary work for the Credit Union, so can answer most questions in reguard to inquiries.

I will give as much detail as i can but please feel free to ask me any further questions and i will do my best to answer them.

I became a member of the Credit Union some 6 years ago after being told of them by a friend. I have worked for them for the last year and find they are brilliant in helping you out of debt.

Credit unions are based all over the country and growing rapidly. They are voluntary run by members for the members.

You start by saving as little or as much as you want each week, loose change, coppers anything.

After 13 weeks of saving, you can apply for a low cost loan for 3 times the amount you have saved over them 13 weeks. e.g £10 per week x 13 = £130. Now times the £130 by 3 = £390. The 13 week period is our security measure that you will responsibly pay back the money on a regular weekly basis.
The interest rate is very low paying only 1% on a decreasing balance.
Which is why i used credit union in the first place, in order to get myself out of debt. I would save and get a loan, paying only 1% interest and use it to pay of another debt, which was charging interest of a lot more, I continued to do this until most of my debts were clear and still do it now.

You do not have to wait another 13 weeks once you have had your first loan, as long as you have paid of your loan, you can then apply for another.

They encourage you to save as well as pay your loan back. e.g.
On a £1,000 loan over a year you would pay approx £10-£11 per week of your loan and as little as a £1 on your savings. Whilst your loan is being paid of you are saving at he same time, there for you can apply for a bigger loan next time round if you wanted to.

    How to apply

You need two forms of I.D, one being a photo I.D and the other a untility bill.
If you have no photo I.D you can take a passport photo to your doctors and ask him to sign it to confirm your identity.

You need your £1 membership fee, payable on a yearly basis, you take them down to your local office and fill out a short membership form.

Anyone can join. There is no Credit checks done and it doesn't matter if you are working or unemployed. They even do children's memberships, but they can't apply for loans.
They are covered by the financial services Authority. If i can figure out how to download and paste one of their leaflets for all to see, but they are brilliant and have helped me a great deal with debts and able to buy the things that we needed. The loans can go on anything, a car, d.i.y, xmas or anything.
If i can be of any help, i will be more than willing to answer any questions if i can!

Send Citi bank a few extra things for ID, Ie a copy if your passprt and pop in a letter saying that you do not have a cheque book. They will be cool with this. I done that and I have the account now
