  • :othink it's been a few weeks since i posted on here, have been keeping up with the reading but only just sat down tonight to add up total May GC!!

Very happy to be able to declare £209.53 Total for May!!!!!!:j:j:j

I know it was ages ago but thank you PennyGrabber for your advice r.e meal planning, having a list of meals and choosing what we want the day before could really work for us, just need to get back into being more organised, these last few weeks are a bit of a busy blur!!

Have also been able to do a bit of a stock up ready for june...and july:Dmaking the most of offers in m'sons, so already have £24.61 to add to June GC, and £9.50 to add to July GC, will pop it on my sig or i will surely forget by then lol

Expensive month non GC, 6 childrens parties than the lo's were invited to, all within a week and a half:eek:thank goodness for poundl*nd!!!!! spent roughly £5 each, this includes gift bag and card, each child had 4 gifts in their bag, they have toy st*ry 3, b*n10, disney c*ars and disney princ*ss goodies in our p'land so had a good choice of nice gifts;)this time last year i would have spent £10+ on each child as i didn't want anyone to think i was cheap/tight lololol:rotfl:
still have trouble with feeling like this sometimes as a lot of my family and people i know are very much 'flash the cash' but i just try to concentrate on what i want to spend/buy rather than what they think:Dand my bank balance is most definatley happier for it:D

i'm still sticking to £215 for June, we are on holiday from the 20th to the 24th, and although i planned to eat out a lot i will still be taking some food for breakfast, picnics (weather pemitting:cool:)and probably some pasta and sauce to keep costs down, so will include groceries we buy whilst away in my june GC but not any eating out IYKWIM

right that's my little babble over, hope everyone is well and :grouphug: to anyone that may need one:p

Tidied my pantry up and found some things i didnt know i had in, so I made some pancakes/dropped scones and i'm baking some oatie raisin cookies at the moment. For our evening meal i did a stir fry using some dehydrated veggies and mixed pulses. Baked a loaf of bread today also....in the panasonic. I always used to make it by hand but i am super impressed with this bread machine. Simplicity in the extreme. Love it!

Today was an NSD too so that's good.

  • I made lasagne tonight with the homemade pasta. Now I dont know if it was the pasta or maybe it was because I made a much better white sauce than usual but all I can say is that it was the best lasagne in all my life!! My daughters agreed also-and from the eldest one its certainly a compliment! Definitely an exercise to repeat! If in doubt whether its worth doing it from scratch do make the effort and try it but do allow the sheets of pasta a few hours to dry out bit(about 6 hours). I did watch a few vids on you tube before I did mine and they are alays useful.

Mmmm strawberries, I could do with those right now!

I'm so happy to have discovered this thread. I am really stressed about money - thinking about it seems to take about most of my time right now - but I might just manage to make it with you lot to advise and inspire! I'm just so angry with myself - this time last year I had a well-paying job. Then my mum got really ill and various other personal things happened which really knocked me and I was battling to handle stuff, so I changed my job to part-time without really thinking through the consequences. I later discovered that being pt meant that my company could decrease my hours by 25% so now I am about to be on half of what I used to earn and I really don't know how I am going to get through. To think that I put myself in this position by my own choice....I just can't forgive myself for being so stupid!

    Hi there
sorry to hear of all your troubles. Life is so hard isn't it. We make decisions and then we wonder why did we do that. Try not to beat yourself up. Your grocery spend is very high so just say to yourself...its June its a new start and I can do it. Post here for support at any time and you will receive it.:) Use what you have in the house before you buy more. Check out all the recipes at the start of this thread and stop beating yourself up pet.
Would it be possible for you to get a part time job in the evening, bar work, cleaning something that won't put too much pressure on you. Have you anything that you can ebay.
Have you tried approaching your employer to say that you would like more hours.
Take care of yourself and know that you are not alone:A

Hi MrsMc thank you for May, my total is £362.25
Roll on June and some better weather would be lovely.

Oh Dear, another month has passed and I havent done my accounts. however I know that I only did one Asda shop, at £50.09 and one Approved Foods and that was around the same, with a few milks/bread. I must try harder to get back on track though. Unfortunately I am so behind, I keep putting it off even more. Had a hick up with the spread sheet in March and have never managed to get it sorted since! Oops.
I will have to questimate and use the bank statements, think my receipts are a bit spread to the winds but will see about gathering them up.
I shall still try in June.

  • Hi I am declaring £137.46 for May, which is great but mainly due to cutting down in buying meat, please put me down for £200 for June, thanks

    Hi

Haven't checked in for a while. I'd like to declare £230.40 for May and ask for £220.00 for June please.

We've got major issues with our van which are proving very expensive, June is going to be very tight so I need to stay focused and organised. I'm hoping to pop in here more regularly to keep me on the straight and narrow!

    Have a good day everyone.

declaring at £219.52 for may :j

Freezer is looking pretty sparse (well to my mind - I can open it without fear for falling objects!) as not had been whoopsie hunting this month - however handily ocado have just sent me a 25% off voucher so I can stock back up on frozen prawns, aberdeen angus mince to make burgers and chicken thighs!

And can I have £240 again for June pretty please
