Thank you to Pink, MrsM and Rosieben for our new thread.

We were supposedly attending a wedding party yesterday, except that when we got there at 2pm with our plates of cakes, nobody else had made any food..... The upshot was that at 7pm I ended up going home and raiding the (never empty) freezer for enough junk to feed 7 children while there parents sat around. One lady (who said she was having a BBQ at home then turned up without bringing any food) asked me when the next door neighbour was bringing the BBQ food over. My reply was that as we hadn't paid for any of it, sharing it was unlikely - the reply "oh I thought you'd gone halves with the food".

I am still cross as although I cooked potato waffles, sausages and chicken for the children I didn't even get a thank you from the adults. No doubt it will wash over me during the course of the day. Grumpiness never lasts long here. I'm just slightly disturbed that drinking was a priority over feeding the children.

I was toying with the idea of going lower this month as I think I've got the hang of slimming world eating now, but I think I'll wait until June just to be sure.

Take care all of you :)

Oh dear Cranky40, I feel for you, I would've felt the same. I on the other hand had the opposite problem! Bought enough food to feed an small army, well my family anyway. Fired up the BBQ and just as I started cooking, it rained .

Managed to cook some of it, but transferred it all inside and cooked the remainder under the grill. I have loads leftover today, so will take it to my friends for another BBQ today (if the weather holds out!) Funnily enough the only alcohol at our BBQ was the glass of wine I needed to console myself about the weather, and that was with 6 grown ups and 2 tweenagers.

Nothing to add to my spends so far (BBQ out of a different budget) and I'm going away on Monday for a few days so I'll be AWOL til the end of the week.

    Have a good weekend everyone

  • Big thanks to Pink, MrsM and Rosieben for a shiny new May GC thread! Have worked out that my weekly budget is £44.40 for May, 4 week / 4 shop month. The first shop will be on Tuesday 3rd May, am going to do my meal plan shortly and write my shopping list. I don't need nappies this week, but think DH needs deodrant (he doesn't tell me till he's run out so I've been monitoring his usage!)

I have several batch cooked meals in the freezer including bolognese, chilli, chicken curry and sweet and sour chicken. I also have a couple of tubs of veg sauce for pasta that I made last weekend and froze. I really hope I can come under budget this month as I loved the feeling of banking my GC underspend this week :T

Hi everyone, thanks for the thread and the support. Good luck everyone.

Terrible month in April - declared at nearly double my target. I simply cannot afford to do this again - especially as we have the balance of our summer holiday and a weekend away to pay for at the end of this month.

MrsM will you please put Hex2 down for £350 for May.

  • Hiya, have posted on the April thread (went over last month, grrrrrrr) so can I up my budget slightly to £420 for May please? Am determined to do it this time, just need to find a cheap source of BBQ food though as if this weather keeps up it's all we'll want to eat this month :rotfl:I did notice that Ald! now do a great range of marinades so I suppose that's a start ;)

Please put me down for £60 in May and I will endeavour to use as much food from the freezer and store cupboard and start sowing salad veg, etc. to keep costs down throughout the summer.

Just back from Mr T and the greengrocers and spent £31.64 and £7.80 respectively making a total of £39.44. This is from a budget of £45 so quite pleased with that - it did include an 8 pack of diet pepsi on offer for £2.

I too follow the SW diet and have to buy tons of F&V and find this cheaper at the greengrocers, things like eggs are cheaper there too 99p for 6 large free range.

So, if I can stay out of the shops (should do, we have everything we need theoretically) I should be about a fiver under budget for the week.:j:j
