Do you have virgin cable in your area?
If so then you will be fine as their service is not dependent on distance.
However, if you do not, and you are going to a Virgin ADSL based service, then you will NOT see anything better, as Virgin cannot do anything about the length / quality of your phone line.
You seem to be blaming this on Sky, when in reality Sky are not at fault here.0 -
I have virgin in my area as the previous owners had virgin installed and I have checked with them, they can provide me anything up to 50Mb.
I understand its down to infrastructure or lack of mainly owned by BT or openreach. Just a little annoyed that SKY cannot just own up to this fact months ago rather than telling a load of lies saving me time and grief rather than me having to come to these conclusions.
And I had to scream and shout down the phone to get them to address my static on the phone line problem before they listened.0 -
Its nothing to do with Sky's fibre optic network which was originally built by Marconi as Ipsaris.
It mainly down to your distance from the exchange and the attenuation of your line. I does look as if your line may be more noisy than it should be, BT Openreach could have tried a different pair to the exchange.
4.5 mbps is at the top end of the estimate for a 55db line.
Anywho this is a bit academic as you are moving to Virgin, hope you get it sorted. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
