Single people with multiple pets

Sorry i misunderstood.gettingready wrote: »Thanks for posting everyone LOL
Ladymarmalade - but the point is I do NOT want "to meet more people" - I am perfectly happy as I am
It is nice to speak to people that share the same passion as you though. My real friends think i am bonkers as i go on about my dogs so much, more than my kids if i am honest yet people in dog forums understand this. You would be amazed at the amount of people that don't even mention their kids or families on them.
If i didn't "speak" with like minded people, i too may question myself as you are doing.
If my dogs do something amusing or clever i can't wait to share it with people that will understand. My real mates just don't get it.0 -

Accused me of "filling the gap" with pets etc etc
I do not feel any "gap" in my life by being single so do not quite follow their way of thinking....
They say they see me as "lonely old woman" with sevaral pets for company and they pity me... ermmmmm again I do not quite follow.
Am I really that weird to chose to live (happily) with my pets by myself?
Should I see a shirnk or something?

Any other single people "filling the gap in their lives" with multiple pets and quite content with their lives?
LOL, they probably see you happy and content and are jealous! I'm happily married and have many pets whom I love dearly. I have very few friends, all linked to the rescue where I am a volunteer and I love them dearly too!
And that's enough for me.
So nothing wrong with you OP. In fact, I prefer my pets' company than that of some people!0 -

What utter rubbish!:rotfl:
I'm not single, but often I prefer my pets to other people. They're cute, furry, non-judgemental and give me unconditional love all the time.

Gettingready we are so on the same wavelength, I have 3 cats of my own, often take in others and have regular visits from the neighbourhood gang.
This weekend I am getting a puppy, yay!
Animals are quite often so much better company than people, they don't answer back, they show you love everyday and provide great amusement! I don't know what I would've done without my cats at some points in the last few years.
I can think of worse things to "fill the gap" with!Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind. They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.0 -
Yet another singleton with multiples here .... 2 cats & 1 dog. I too think people see me as a bit mad sometimes, if they ask "what are you doing tonight" and I say I'm taking the dog for a lovely walk on the beach they think I'm nuts to do it alone (I think some of them perceive me as being sad & lonely - which I'm neither).
I would love more but funds and space make this impossible just now (another lottery dreamer here - a smallholding with loads of dogs & cats, a couple of donkeys and a few chickens is mine).
I have more than enough friends who are there when needed and honestly prefer my company & that of the "little people" to sitting in a room with people yaking all the time (maybe some of it stems from being an only child and having to amuse myself when I was wee).
A lovely walk, tea & then relaxing on the sofa reading a book - while tickling Mr B's (dog) tum as he lies upside down beside me, a cat sitting along the back of the sofa and another on my knee - that's my idea of heaven!

Are you happy? you sound content, and thats more than a lot of people are!
For what its worth - its YOUR right to live YOUR life in any way you want as long as harms none!
and you dont need other peoples blessing either - tell them to butt out!0 -
Absolutely nothing wrong with you!! I'm sat here, dog snoring on settee, cat on her tree thing, and neither of them aware that we will have a new puppy in a couple of weeks. We live in harmony with no arguments (ok, a few 'no!!'s), they give me great pleasure and companionship, dare I say it, far more then any of my exes who were human!0

And yet another singleton, 2 cats one dog and hopefully a couple of young hens in a few weeks which, although they're supposed to just be part of my striving for self-sufficiency, will definitely be part of my small 'family'. The neighbours think I'm a bit nutty because I spend more time with and talking to the animals than down the pub or rushing around with a full social diary, but I don't have a problem with their attitude - or life-styles. I just live and let live.
The dogs who have spend their lives with me have usually had some sort of problem, be it psychological (separation anxiety, etc) or medical (wet excema over 3/4 of his body when he came to me) or just, as the rescue centre said, not rehomeable. Funny how they seem to stay for an infinite length of time!
I've spent too much time being uncomfortable in the company of human animals to bother with them any more. The couple of friends I do have are also classed as eccentric and that's okay by them, too.
Thank God for the love of an animal, there's nothing else in the world as sincere.0
