the dvi cable is the beige one in the monitor i got frrom amazon today. if you are using dvi, you will need to turn on dvi input using the monitors menu settings as they come with vga set as default.

i have to say i am very impressed with this screen, it is much better than the 19" crt i am replacing.

    thanks op!!

    Hi All.

Looks like I might get a couple of these. They seem good value but what good is this DVI?

Whats so special about it, How would I benifit and most importantly, since I am about to purchase a new system, what do I need to ensure is included with the new machine to best take advantage of it?

Also does it have any USB connectors on board and what the hell do I do with my whopping great 19" CTXPR960F CRT? (Which has 4x USB connections on board BTW).

    Thanks for your help.

DVI (Digital Video Interface) directly addresses the pixels of a TFT monitor, rather than converting to analogue (VGA) and back again. As a result the picture is sharper. You'll need a graphics card with DVI output, which is increasingly common now, but rarely if ever available with onboard graphics. Still, you can always buy a cheap card with DVI and stick it in.

... No USB hub in the monitor I'm afraid. USB Cards are ten a penny though, if you need to replace the ones you'll lose in the monitor.

As for what to do with your monitor - I cobbled mine together with an old PC and gave it to a guy who runs a youth club.
Im sure some smaller local primary or special needs schools with just the odd PC or two would welcome the upgrade to a 19".

just bought 2 of the 17" digimate monitors from aria.. (although I live near there so picked them up).. both are fantastic.. a couple dodgy subpixels on the one which is a disappointment but not too bad - they weren't there when I first turned it on either but are now.. pfft.. the other is perfect :D

btw they've got free shipping on their site at the moment for monitors and some other things.

The Arianet doesn't have DVI. As for the other two I think the only difference is cosmetic.
  • I ordered a L-1916D from Aria in the early hours of this morning and didn't get an email confirmation. The site said the monitor would be delivered on Friday, but looking in my order history my order doesn't appear. Did this happen to anyone else? Did the monitor still come?
  • Got mine set up, fantastic picture quality. Thanks for this one:)
