aria are great.. am planning on getting 2 17" TFTs from them soon - as I'm dying for dual monitors being a webdesigner.. would be very tempted by 2 19"s but that's probably a little excessive ;) hehe.

I have the added advantage of living near aria too. :) No shipping! :D

I'm assuming the resolution is 1280x1024.

If so, personally I think these cheap 19" TFTs are a bit of a con.
It means they give NO extra screen space compared to a 17" TFT, all they do is make all the pixels bigger. In effect that 'reduces' visible resolution.

I'm only going to consider a 19" TFT when either I can afford one with a higher resolution eg. 1600x1200.
Until then, I don't see the point of a19" over a 17", except for those with poor eyesight!

    Cheers,
    Don

how do you find the picture quality on these?
I ordered one sunday, came this morning, but the picture looks a bit washed out to me.
I'm not very good at altering the colours, gamma etc. Could do with an online guide.
BaarGin-it looks like they left the s-video socket blocked over. Maybe another version of this TFT will have one.

I have the 17" TFT at 1280x1024 and would prefer a bigger screen resolution so I would personnel go for a 19" TFT and give this to the kids but the 19" that go above 1280x1024 are much more expensive unfortunately at present.

Exactly Shrek101. You want bigger screen resolution ie. more things visible on the screen.

Hence, the typical 19" TFT (such as this one) is pointless. The resolution is the same 1280x1024, so you won't see anything 'more' on the screen - it'll be the same things, just bigger. In fact, all that happens is that each screen pixel will be slightly larger.

This can even be a 'disadvantage' in some cases whereby if you look at a picture up closely, it will look more blocky on the 19" than the 17", because the individual pixels on the latter will be physically bigger.

I still don't understand the point of a 19" TFT with a screen resolution the same as a 17". EXCEPT if you have bad eye-sight and you want the text bigger.

I'm still holding out for the reduction in price of the higher resolution 1600x1200 19" TFTs! Or might even consider buying another 17"!

    Cheers,
    Don

  • I ordered a Digimate L-1916D Sunday evening from Aria and it was delivered this morning. Excellent service!
It worked straight out-of-the-box without any problems. I can't see any dead pixels, so, if I can't see em they're not going to worry me even if there are a couple.
The picture is brilliant, very clear, and better than my Sony Trinitron CRT which it replaces.
I have a very critical eye and the resolution 1280 by 1024 is really excellent. The picture is very sharp and I can't see how a higher resolution would make it that much better to warrant buying a much more expensive monitor.
