Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 26th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Back to work for me today, as you can imagine I'm filled with joy at the prospect. DW is on, fish have been fed, no packup for me as we get a free lunch today.
Hubby is going to visit his brother again in hospital, he seems to be mending well so far.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

            Morning everyone

Inset day here so kids don't go back until tomorrow, am working all day today so hope weather holds. Not looking very promising here.
Note to self don't go to bed late as invariably one of the kids (DD today) end up waking absurdly early (5.50am today).
So today will be spent entertaining the kids and living off coffee. B*gger don't HAVE any coffee as I ran out yesterday :eek: May have to send H out on a mercy mission before work
Tea tonight is chicken and bacon casserole. I fancy making a quiche for lunches this week.....
Hugs and spoons all round. Hope those of you who are heading back to work after easter have a lovely day back, especially Hester as we know how much she loves her job

Good Morning Hester, Bitsy & all to follow
Hester - hope work today isn't too bad
glad BIL is making progress though.
Inset day here too, DS is off very shortly with his friends to Thorpe Park, DD wont get up till nearly lunchtime I guess & she has her boyfriend round this afternoon. OH is at work so quite a peaceful day for me. Most of it should be spent in the office, house and ironing is up straight.
Leftover chicken for dinner tonight - possible make into chicken quesadilla's.
That's it for me - gotta fit 5 days work into 3 :rotfl:
Have a good one.x0 -
            Morning HH, Bitsy and everyone,
School's back today - but at least it is a short week:)
Survived the MIL visit. The crackling crackled really well so that was OK and we fed 9. DGS1 was with his friends.
Dinner tonight is chicken & steak fajitas for 8 of us. This is one of the DGSs favourites.
Bit grey and overcast here today so hopefully I won't be looking out of the window and wishing I was at home;)
Hugs to those who need or want, Cheers Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

            Morning all,
Eugh back to routine, OH back to work and DD back to school, I am off till Wed, so need to crack on today, need to do an online shop, have a good clean through, washing, and some baking, will then get into the garden and tidy up a bit, have let things slip a bit this week
Forgot to say, the radio on Ebay went for £262 :j not bad for £15
have got more things on there now, got the bug a bit
My mum had to take dad to the hospital on sunday night cos he had not been able to wee, they sat in A+ E waiting to see a Dr for 7 hours, till the early hours of the morning, there was no drinks available and in the end they walked out without seeing a Dr, dad is diabetic and needed a drink and some food, makes me so
Something with sausage meat tonight, might do a pie, little bit cooler here today, so might do some mash, got a bit of brisket to cook today for tomorrows dinner.
Ok better get on, have good days all xx0 -

RR - that's awful about your Dad' trip to A&E
 hope he is ok x
The sun has not yet made an appearance this morning.
I am 'working from home' today
Our offices close the Tues after Easter (council building) so we all must work elsewhere. So we all work from home instead! I have no work to do from home so will be doing uni work instead.
My plan for the day includes smallish food shop at Tesco, uni work, and a sunbathe if the sun turns up. Need to get some of the stuff for the Royal Wedding brunch, I'll get the long dated stuff today and the girls can bring the fresh stuff over on Fri cos Im busy next two nights.
OS wise - just had quick tidy of kitchen. Still not put away laundry mountain but must tackle that today. May put a load in WM if there is enough stuff.
Off back to bed with cuppa and book first before I start the day.
Have a great day all

            Morning all!
Pinks all back to school today, and amazingly all up and dressed and getting organised! ds is back to college, but is laying in bed still, possibly waiting till the kids bathroom is free for his shower!
Daft cat has just come in through my bedroom window again, surely it would be easier to go through the sitting room window which is directly underneath, and doesn's involve a couple of large jumps and a climb up a small roof!
dd2 had her phone and netbook returned to her yesterday, with dire warnings of what would happen if she misbehaved again in the same way! She will be handing the phone over before she goes to school, as that way she won't be tempted to mess about with it during lessons!
OS stuff today will involve making up individual lasagnes to use up the bolognese mix in the fridge, only ds and dd2 will eat them now! Will be mincing lamb leftovers and freezing ready for future shepherd's pie or moussaka, and chicken will be portioned, some to go in wraps tonight and some for the freezer. Also need to sort dw, put on bm, wm and hang washing, hoover and have a quick tidy through and a S&S of kitchens and bathrooms, then I should be free to get into the garden and plan out what to tackle first, the borders are all weedy and generally a state, want to intersperse existing plants with edible stuff, and would love to squeeze in a couple of miniture fruit trees if I can find/make space. Would also quite like to pop in another clematis or two and some rambling roses to cover the fences! Not too much then lol!
Meant to be going to cinema with best friend this eve, wanted to watch Thor, but seems to not be on locally, though it was on over the weekend! So might have to go and watch the Fast and Furious, though not so excited at the prospect now I've seen a trailer containing a chubby Vin Diesel, oh what has happened to you Vin! Really need to go and kick Spud's daddy too: he is currently ignoring me and not returning calls, either that or he's been murdered! Argh, why can't some people just be reasonable! Whilst I am quite happy without him, I do not want our daughter to miss out on her daddy.
Time for a browse now before I start my chores, don't want to get caught up in the school chaos that will develop in a mo just before the girls leave to catch their buses! Have a good day all xGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
            Morning all
Hope everyone had a nice Easter break. I am off till next tuesday - only had to book a couple of days holiday to tag all bank holidays together, so feels like an extra holiday.
House still fairly tidy as I blitzed it on thursday before I went to spend a couple of days with a friend, so only the weekends washing to do which is on at the moment. Quite grey and cool here though so it might have to go on the airers to dry.
Trip to A*da this morning I think for some fresh stuff and to check out their gluton free range - I had the coeliac diagnosis confirmed last week and am waiting to see the Dietian at the hospital to see exactly what I can eat, so limited diet at the moment! but extremely healthy one. Helps with the weight loss though - I have now lost 4st 6 lbs since all my problems started - one bright side anyway!!!
Had another nasty run in with the future ex on my return yesterday as he wasn't expecting me back until today and had let himself into the house with his key - even though I have asked him to stop doing that, but Sols have said that I shouldn't change the locks as he is still joint owner! Seems unfair that he still seems to be able to call all the shots after doing what he did - anyway determined not to let him get to me anymore - I have cried more than enough over that man!!!!
Hope you all have a good day

Dull overcast and windy here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Back to work for me too, I have to drop boys off at mum's before work so need to be organised. MIL and FIL came yesterday for lunch, pork roasted well and crackling was some of the best I've managed to cook, roast pots, mash, cauli and broccolli cheese, carrots, yorkshires and gravy, apple crumble for those that had room. Whilst lunch was cooking, FIL put up my new light, I'm very pleased with it, so that's another job crossed off the list. Decorating still not quite finished, but weekend has been reasonably productive so I'm not complaining. I hadn't really set too and done housework whilst kids been on holidays so gave house a quick clean yesterday (MIL is a cleaning fanatic and can be quite critical but thats another storey!!) so just now need to get ironing done and keep on top of washing as we're going away on Friday morning. Loving these short weeks but have to be on top of all the jobs otherwise we're not sorted to go away.
Have a great day everyone, and holidays for those that are still off, lucky devils!!
