How about charity shops in a posh area for your work clothes. You can get some lovely stuff for a fraction of what you would pay for it new....
I do buy books and things from charity shops. I have never really looked at the clothing to be honest. I will likely buy....
4 pairs of trousers (Burtons)
5 or 6 short sleeve shirts (H&M, Burtons, Next)
1 good shirt/tie for parent's evenings (Next)
My subject is very practical and I have decided that the suits I have will do me another year as I rarely wear them anyway.Debt now £48,000 in the form of a mortgage0 -
Have been invited down to London to visit a friend from drama school during half term in October. Just got a REALLY good deal on Virgin Trains. Just need to hope that he can sort out some good theatre tickets!Debt now £48,000 in the form of a mortgage0

I'm no good at charity shops either apart from things like books.
Glad I don't have to buy work clothes, it'd stress me out0 -

Very pleased with my efforts regarding the debt. I could even look at a rental place but I think I will wait until I have some cold hard cash saved.
Hope all is well with you.Debt now £48,000 in the form of a mortgage0 -
Good luck with your journey. I hated living at home too so I know how you feel.

Had a letter from Halifax about PPI on the credit card. Apparently I had PPI for a couple of years at a percentage of the outstanding balance. It was an Amazon card to start with and I remember ditching the PPI when it rebranded to Halifax.
Have found a couple of old statements but only appeared to have paid a few pounds PPI each month at the most. Oh well.Debt now £48,000 in the form of a mortgage0 -

Thank you so much Dorset. I moved out to go to uni so it feels even worse having to return home as an adult. Damn my ex :cool:Debt now £48,000 in the form of a mortgage0 -
Crikey, I've just read through your entire thread - you're going to be debt free in no time!
I hate buying clothes for work, it seems like such a waste of money and I've noticed a recent disturbing trend for buying from Marks and Spencers. I'm getting frumpier by the day.Charity shops may be the final straw.
If you can bear another few months with your parents I'd definitely save up and buy a flat. You can only get a flat for £60k where I live (Manchester) if you're retirement age.Barclaycard [STRIKE] £2770 [/STRIKE] now £2690.
