OS Daily Monday 25th April

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 25th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hi,

Thought I would make a start here this morning I couldn't sleep so decided to get up early and get productive.

We have been clearing my OH's Grandad's sheds this weekend and now have a van load of 'treasure' to try to sell on for.
Things from WWII canvas bag to boxes full of tools!

Good morning SunchineBear and all to follow,

Bright but a bit hazy here at the moment.

Roast pork for lunch today and DBIL will be visiting with MIL. Hope the crackling works:)

Need to cast a very observant eye over the place as MIL is very critical. The first time she ever visited our home, she checked the top of the doors for dust!!!!!!!! Some people just know how to make you love them don't they?

DGSs will enjoy the visit as they will probably come bearing Easter eggs.

Happy bank holiday Monday, hugs to those who need or want, Silver x

Silvermaid, a tip re your mother in law, a layer of vaseline along the top of the door, tell her the door was sticking! I used to have a MIL like that, oh the joy she brought to my life.
Lovely blue sky here today & I'm going to make the most of it as I'm back to work tomorrow.
I shall do some washing by hand, I shall be glad when the part for my washing machine turns up, hopefully it will dry in the sun. DW is on, fish fed, hubby still asleep so I'll do his breakfast when he wakes up.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Morning you three, and everyone to come. :)

Hester that made me laugh with the vaseline ;)

Quiet day here today, the children will be recovering from their chocolate hangovers, and I shall be embarking on getting organised with my diet again, I have put weight back on and am feeling a bit bloated from eating pasta and bread on Saturday :( We had a lovely day at MILs yesterday, had the boys' traditional egg hunt in gran's garden, and I made dinner there, which was delicious if I do say so myself! The dessert was the chocolate nests the boys made yesterday morning.

I have a washing to dry this morning, and will be carrying on with my organised house campaign. Joy of joys.

    Have a great day!

    Morning my lovelies :D

Silver - If I saw someone doing that I'd go and hand them a duster and tell them where to start cleaning ;)

Sun is trying to shine today which is slightly better than yesterday. Poor garden desperately needs a good drop of rain so could the Universe please oblige OVERNIGHT :D

Not sure what we're doing today. H wants to ebay a few things, I have a mountain of stuff I want to ebay.....must make the effort to start taking pics of the things.

Not sure whats for tea :o We had a meal out at the Harvester yesterday, not really MSE but we've not had a meal out with the kids for........well I can't remember when so it was a nice treat.

BM is preppning the dough, washing up to date, Mount Iron waiting to be done.

DS has just said it's his wedding today. I think all these Royal Wedding programmes are filtering in :rotfl:

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.

    Hello All,

    Hope everyone is ok,

What a Valuable lesson I have learned...

In my bid to be super moneysaving, I have made myself so poorly. Decided the other day to have some mayonnaise from the fridge (there was two jars lurking at the back:o) and in my bid to save money and use food up I ate it. Sadly and annoyingly I poisoned myself... Not happy with myself. I haven't been this poorly for a long time, six months pregnant and i've lost 2kgs in as many days (not good). And to top it all the pennies I might have saved have been long ago negated to pay for the lucozade i've needed to re-hydrate.

So while i'm all for saving money I would urge anybody not to be as blase as I was that day...... So annoyed with myself!

Feeling much better today anyway despite being up a few times still in the night so I'm hoping I can take the children somewhere nice, we will see xxxx

    Morning all!

Well yesterday was a bit of a washout as far as the garden was concerned! Did jobs in the house, then took dd3 to a boot sale for a wander - you'd think people would wash stuff before they tried to sell it! Was quite possibly the grimiest boot sale I've ever visited! Stopped off for an ice cream on the way home, whipped up a quick curry for lunch using up bits and bobs from the cupboards and freezer and nearly blew everyone's heads off, then felt exhausted! Decided to go for a lie down and then nodded off - think I was paying the price for all the work the day before! Someone please tell me when I'm going to get this extra preggers energy burst lol!

Today will be a quick whip around indoors, with the kids' assistance, but first I have promised to take ds to Ikea - we shall be leaving soon so that we don't get stuck on the M5! There is a Mr T's next to it, so I shall be doing a quick stock up on fruit juice as well whilst we wait for Ikea to open! Plan is to get there and grab what he wants during the browsing time, then be first through the checkouts! Need to get dd2 into town to buy some school trousers, her skirt that we bought a few weeks ago was already shortish, but she has had a growth spurt and it is now indecent! dd3 is after a water gun, so will prob tag along too!

No idea about dinner yet, meal plan didn't reach as far as today, but plenty of lamb left from yesterday, so possibly something made from that! ds was in charge of roasting it, and smothered it in mint, wow did it smell good!

Hope everyone has a good day xxx

Goodness Miecherox that sounds awful! It must have been really old to have poisoned you like that, you should get to the doctors and get checked just in case it does you any damage you can't see. xxx

    Morning :hello:

Can't remember if I told you already, but we have 2 new chickens. Red has settled in well but Rocky is scared of everything. We have to tuck her in at bedtime, she's too scared to go into her house at night :D Has enough courage to jump the fence and eat my radishes though, lol.

jackieglasgow I have sympathy for your kids hangovers. I have one myself after eating a box of maltesers, 3 creme eggs and a dairy milk egg :o

The grass seed we put down 2 weeks ago has grown fast, it's about 2 inches high. The veg is doing well and there's lots of flowers on the fruit bushes. What I thought were blueberries are actually blackcurrants (forgot that mr tru bought them), so where are my 2 blueberry bushes???

Finally built the shelves into the 2 awkward cupboards so I've unpacked the boxes that had the baking stuff in and arranged the food properly, didn't realise I actually had any flour left :D

Mr tru is working in a shop that refuses to open on bank holidays (YAY!) and only opens for 3 days over Christmas. As it's quiet then, they only have to do 1 day each (double YAY!!)

Plans for today - paint the windowsill and put up a curtain rail. Total amount of work is about 30 mins, but it'll take all day cos of having to wait for each coat of paint to dry.
