Lol I didn't mention the other best thing I ever did was stop drinking diet coke
I was drinking up to 3L a day - yep you read that right. I was drinking it like water. So along with the food and exercise overhaul I gave up diet coke. I don't drink tea or coffee so coke was the only place I got caffeine. Coming off it was horrible. I had the sweats and aches - I felt like death warmed up for about 24hrs. To the point that I went to bed when I got home from work (I quit on a Monday morning lol) and didn't get up till the following morning. I used to get regular headaches whilst I was on coke - I imagine it was my body telling me I needed my next fix. But I hardly ever get them now.
Instead I drink around 3L of very weak no added sugar squash.
Lol I'm not saying this in a 'all fizzy drinks are evil' but just something to think about. As far as I can remember Tesco Diets used to say you were allowed no more than one 330ml of the stuff (diet versions) a day. Now I will drink lemonade when I'm eating out or when I'm just being naughty lol but I find the gas really bloats me up. I can't stand the taste of diet coke any more - it tastes so artifical and nasty. It's strange how tastes change over time.
(I love corn on the cob, beetroot and butternut squash now - wouldn't have ever eaten them pre-diet)
Right am off for a jog now.
*edit*
Oh and the other biggest thing I did was reduce my salt intake. I suffer really badly from water retention. Anything that has too much salt and my feet swell up so much you can't see my tendons any more!! Lol *chants to herself as she goes off to get ready for a jog "My body is a temple"* hahahahaaa
I can give the talk can't I! I just need to follow it myself more consistently lol.0 -
yes i always need a fix but i tend to stick to a small can of pepsi max. today i got the bigger bottle (600ml). you are right though they do say that drinks like these mess up sugar levels and the person craves more bad stuff. i need to stop it but it is hard. i do have my tea (twice a day or more depending onhow tired i am) but also try and have some green tea everyday (only 1 cup though)... hmm if icould stop drinking even a can of pepsi and keep it till when i go out etc, i should be fine.
enjoy your jog!

Oh my - running in heat/sun is hard work lol. I did better today overall I think. It was 18degC out there though so not the most ideal temperature to be running in. Am sat here sweating like a pig! The temperature really showed on the final third of today's run (although the little hill I run up was a much better attempt than Wednesday). Nike+ still isn't sharing on my facebook (grrr) so I can't share you my graph. Will go out again on Monday after school. Am looking forward to increasing my distance back up to my usual 5K but at the moment I'm so glad to be heading home I couldn't possibly push for another 1k. Anyway I ran 3.89K (0.9k shorter than last time - lol I obviously cut more corners today), in 24mins 1sec (3 seconds slower - which I think given today's heat isn't anything to be ashamed of!)0

That's great Mrs Drink, well done. Do you have a Park Run near where you are? They are excellent for getting your 5k confidence up. I managed 7 miles last night and have 12.5 planned for tomorrow morning, eek. Roll on GNR, I hope it isn't anywhere near as hot as it is in London right now.0

Wow well done for your run Eng!! 12.5miles are you mad?! Oh sorry we've already established you are lol. I do hate running in the sun!! When I did my local race for life it was the hottest day of the summer!! Lol sods law!
Nah - I live in the middle of nowhere pmsl. I did email our local athletics club that meet for runs and have runners of all abilities. But how typical they meet on a Tuesday (when I have Yoga) and Thursday (I do Body Balance before they meet but I wouldn't want to run after doing BB).
I am confident that left to my own devices I'll be up to 10K - I've done it before so I know I can do it again. But before I do that I need to get back to being able to bash out a 5K in no real hardship - I used to be able to do 5K then as I walked down the driveway get accosted by my old neighbour and chit chat for 15 mins without being dead on my feet lol. I have every faith I will back there soonI'm not too far off my old pace (under 6mins a km) so now I just have work up my distances. I would really like to be able to do Lincoln 10K in under 1hr 15mins (to account for people getting in the way).

The Lincoln 10k looks like loads of fun and you have masses of time to train, just keep at it. You have a really well-balanced exercise programme that will completely support your running, building strength and flexibility at the same time as speed and mileage, go for it!0
-
Aww thank you
I haven't organised my fitness on purpose - lol it's kinda just evolved to keep me exercising without getting bored
The best thing about the Lincoln 10K is that MrD will be able to run it with me. Not like the Races For Lifes I've completed where he's stuck waiting at the finish line. Is was a star though during my local one - he parked up on the top of the hill we had to run so as soon as I could see my car I knew I was nearly at the top of it and nearly over the worse of it. Definitely helped me!!0
