What puzzles me is that, since we have already established that it is only a matter of un-ticking a box in the software configuration, why don't they do that, instead of the more costly option of changing the meter? Could it be that they don't actually have the equipment to configure these meters?
Changing the meter is an easier on site option.
The old meter will go back, be reprogrammed and calibrated, and be reused elsewhere.0 -
check meter installed 10th May 16-May 13:30 0049.99 93575 10-May 13:30 0008.00 93492 41.99 83 6 days 41.01 average per day 6.835
Surely it should be:
6 days 41.99
average per day 6.998
Let the spreadsheet do the work! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Must have put the wrong number in excel - anyway its not much electric a day!!
Methinks I have a rather large rebate coming back.
We were away a lot during the first 3 mths when the panels were installed useage "dropped" from supposedly 20 KW to around 16 KW per day. Then of course we were into the shorter nights so what we produced kept the speed of the mains meter down.
There are going to be some interesting conversations when they start to decide how much we used.
I bet we are also on the +5% leeway that meters are allowed!!!!0 -

The point that I was making with "Let the spreadsheet do the work!" is that you should only ever enter the input data i.e. the meter readings and then let the spreadsheet calculate all output data for you accurately! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
For those of you still with me on this - still waiting for them to come & change meters or whatever they are going to do.
15 days with check meter - used 88.89 KW of electric
15 days Old meter ........ . - used 249 KW0 -

Still with you....
Wow....now thats what I call a discrepancy!
If the siemens meter was not clicking up the reverse flow your bill would be almost 3x less expensive, obviously the difference would be less if it was winter.
If you had an older meter it would have wound backwards 160.11 units, not a good thing if the meter reader comes round as it would probably be rejected as a read by the computer and may spark the intrest of the Revenue Protection people.
Its going to be interesting to see what your supplier says regards a rebate on the bill.
Thanks for keeping us posted.0 -
It gets better
Today has been dull most of the day, but we have produced 7 KW since 7.30 am - the check meter says we have used less than 1 KW in fact, only 0.33 of a KW.:mad::) so, even in winter we would be saving quite a bit.
I am going to have to give a lot of consideration to how much they offer.0 -

Who should make the offer of compensation?
IMO the fault is down to the installers.
You had a perfectly good functioning meter. You(the installation company) caused the problem.
Agreed the electricity company could have been more proactive when the issue was raised.
However it will cost them a fair amount of money to investigate and then fit a new meter; when they didn't ask you to fit solar!0 -
Does it make a difference if the suppliers knew that the type of meter I have is not fit to be used with Solar panels.
As soon as they came and put check meter in, the comment was why hadn't we had an export meter fitted, as these meters don't register exported electric.
They knew what type of meter I had when they sent the contract for the FiT payments - isn't that the time that they should have said your meter is not suitable.
I think that the company who fit meters know about it, (see PaulReed's post 153) but they aren't bothering to let micro generation teams, or electric suppliers know.
Installers say they hadn't seen this before0 -
I don't suppose in any company the clerical section dealing with FIT payments would liaise with the technical department about meter compatibility - especially as they probably sub-contract meter fitting.
As you can claim FIT money from any company, the clerk handling those claims wouldn't even have to check if you were supplied electricity from the same company.0
