  • Ah...lets see if following the previous instructions for all connections listed shifts the !!!!!!.

Enter your Control Panel and double-click on Network Connections.

    * Then right click on your Default Connection.
Usually Local Area Connection for Cable and DSL.
    * Left click on Properties.
    * Double-Click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item.
    * Select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS Servers Automatically.
Note: Do this for all Network Connections listed please.
    * Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.

Then post a fresh HJT log please.

    Alfonso,

So does that mean i (well my pc) is clean??

If so THANK YOU. I really appreciate all your help to date and guidance. I have also PM'd you,

    thanks
  • Lovely jubbly. :)

To be honest, your pc was clean from what I could see over a week ago. The problem we had was down to a setting which needed tweeking to put right. We got there in the end, that's the main thing!

Everything appears to be in order so I guess we can wrap things up for the time being.

Just give me a shout if the problems return.

In the meantime, please follow these simple steps to keep yourself safe and secure in the future.

    Re-Hide your System Files

Please rehide your hidden system files and folders by reversing the steps here.

    Keep Sun Java Updated

There are numerous infections which take advantage of exploits present in older Sun Java installations. Ensure you are running the latest version by reading this.

Disable and Re-enable System Restore to Flush Infected Restore Points

Disable and re-enable System Restore to ensure there are no infected files found in your restore points.

Click Start > Right click My Computer> Properties> System Restore and place a check next to the "Turn off System Restore" box.

Restart the machine to flush the restore points and then re-enable System Restore by removing the check from the "Turn off System Restore" box.

Then go to Start> All Programs> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore and create a new Restore Point.

    Protect Yourself in the Future!!

Click on the following tutorial and follow each step listed there:

    Alfonso,
Quick question. Looked at the website for thelatest download for the java, as it seems that i have a vulnerable version. Lates i could find is
    Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6

On Virus vault it says look for Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 Update 10 .
    I cannot find this.

    Any clarification welcome.

    many thanks again.
  • Yes indeed, Update 6 is the latest, I just haven't had time to update Virus Vault since Sun Java updated last week. Thanks for reminding me!!
