  • Glad to hear you are okay - if a little bruised and pricked - Greenbee. Lots of positive healing vibes.

I think it might be time to open the virtual bar. I am having a vodka, straight up, followed by a Cosmopolitan I think. Who's with me?!

(The best thing about virtual bars is that you don't get a hangover and it costs nowt!)

I need sustenance, because Hubby has come down with a snorter of a cold. Which means I have no sleep because he is going to be sounding like an asthmatic walrus all night, and then he is going to be throwing dramatic fits all day tomorrow feeling sorry for himself. Sigh. Its such a shame, because I am feeling the best I have for MONTHS. I guess I can look after him while he is snorting and sneezing and huffing and puffing!! :D

Welcome back Greenbee - even if you do feel like a pincushion. The blood donor folk always smile condescendingly when I tell them I am a slow bleeder. Then they apologise for the bruises. :rotfl:

Keep us updated, please. I hope you got to bed before you were nagged by Mum!
But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?

Ok next year can you please nag me to start preparing for the big cheese earlier and not the day before?

I think I've got enough sorted, if it sells well tomorrow I think I will be making for Sunday tomorrow evening.

Just had sweet and sout chicken and egg fried rice from Iceland, was lovely, just taken pain killers now I'm ready for bed,

Early start tomorrow so I won't be on till gone 8 tomorrow, positive vibes I sell out tomorrow :)

I notice sunflower has been very quiet....

    Busted! :rotfl:

In all fairness, I did a bit of CV editing before the laptop was taken from me by some other members of the house who needed to use it.

But never fear...I took the alternative route to employment: I went to see a play this evening, which was heavily attended by Francophones. They all seem to work in the same place, so a friend and I sauntered up to them and got a number and e-mail address for me to send my CV to for a job.

C'est la vie, as they say! ;)

Her father was a bank manager in Brighton and they lived down in Sussex till he retired. Then they moved back to Catton in Norfolk. I'd be interested in hearing what the plaque says. Thanks.

I'm getting ahead on the August de-cluttering this weekend by sorting out all the lockers and cupboards in the caravan and also cleaning up my hard drive and bookmarks.
:hello: The school is partly on the site of Petlands, where she lived between 1849 and 1853 - it must have been so lovely in those days.

I definitely need to join in the August decluttering challenge, btw. I thought I was more or less done, apart from scanning journal articles so I can chuck the hard copy. But here's the list now:
    - scanning journal articles so I can chuck the hard copy (well, it has to go on the list, then I can tick it off!).
    - get all the ornaments in one place, decide what to do.
    - get all the picture frames in one place, and decide what to do. This may need my sister to be a witness.
    - pruning in the garden - with focussing on the house, this has become horrendous - my sister took over yesterday, rescued the hover mower she gave me from the shed and the spiders, and cut the grass, which was 3 feet long in places. I need to keep it cut :o and also get rid of whats cut (loads of seeds, no good for composting), and also get rid of most of the sedge, the ivy and the rhodendrons, plus start digging up some of the grass to give me space to plant stuff. And then it would be nice to remortar the patio blocks .... okay, I'm going to shut up there
Hello all... have had a fantastic day today. Had a slap up breakfast at a lovely cafe in Nottingham this morning and then we went shopping. I am afraid this is definitely not money saving, but I spent a lot of money in Lakeland - i have justified this to myself because I bought a Christmas present and things we can use! And then I went to Superdrug and bought some new nail varnish. As I walked up the road... I saw that my closest branch of Evans is shutting. I was a little upset, because it is one of the only places i can buy clothes that fit me. But then I thought... ooh, bargains...! And went in and purchased a lovely dress, a skirt and lots and lots pairs of knickers. My knicker drawer was looking decidedly tired, so I am happy with that. And then, on top of that, I went into another shop which sells clothes in my size and I got lots of lovely things in the sale. Very satisfying. Then i had my counselling session, which was very productive again... and then hubby and I went for a wander around Ikea. We have decided on the kitchen for our new house, and we found a lovely set of bedding and an enamel vase for flowers. And then we came home for a well deserved rest!

And I have just given myself a manicure. I am not the world's best nail varnish applier... in fact it took me 3 attempts to make my nails look half decent. But I feel a million dollars and soooo much better. Tomorrow we are having a "do what the hell you want" day, which I am also looking forward to. My plan is to bake some luscious blueberry muffins for breakfast, then I am going to potter about in the garden and get it looking really smart. I think I am going to have to go to a garden centre for some bits (oh shucks! :D) and then I am going either sit in the garden and do some cross stitch, or I am going to read. Or both.

I love this! What a role model :j:j:j

better get that CV done then. You can always work on it with a pen and paper you know.... It should be your number one priority - all of us on here know how to cut back, but as we're all aware, increasing income is the best solution!

    Good morning Matrixittes

I'm sorry that I've been in absentia with the posting but I have been reading when I can.
Even today I can't be on for long - need a new laptop power cable....(have 47 mins left at present)
    Anyhow
Greenbee - glad hospital went as well as it could - I was thinking about you
Groatie Queen - brilliant news on the new hair - one of the girls I worked with had the same problem and previously had brown hair - went to red bon style wig that she liked so much that now her new real hair matches this.
Eveyone else - hugs & happiness
Crickett - Now that I have nails (have been a biter all my life) I have some gorgeous tartlike bright red nail polish I got in an offer - you have inspired me to try it......

And does anyone have a kindle? I have 1 or 2 books for one if you're intersted - but PM me ........ "ask me no secrets & I'll tell you no lies " books

And as for me - I'm on holiday for 2 weeks now - the ones we had to bring forward from October because of the court case.
1 week at home & 1 away on a last minute wee cruise (just celebrating the silver wedding early & in the true spirit of MSEness we managed to get a really good deal). I know I shouldn't justify myself but we seem to go away a lot & I feel I have to (joys of being a Scot I presume) we don't need stuff but like travel & spending time together..... Oh - & are awaiting a PPI setlement that will pay for this.

DH is still working today so today will be a Stepford day in the house and I am so up for these challenges. I'm going to write a list of 31 de clutters that need to be done so I can aim for 1 a day (2 a day before I go away) & will also try to organise to get more stuff for e-bay when I come back from hols.

And the other news is - DH's job will go from 2 managers to 1 in March...... and as they are trying to offer them both other jobs (suitable or not) redundancy ain't an option. But March is a long time away & we'll be fine.

Well, must go now as will need to keep some power in reserve just in case - have a good one folks

  • Glad to see you back Greenbee - hope you had a good night's rest.

Good to hear from you Clooties Mum, have a lovely Cruise with oh (no need to justify, celebrate it )
    Hope you sell well Claire.

Giggles at Karmacat and her garden list - oh do I empathise.

Plans for today include finishing the glossing of my shelves and maybe painting the garage wall, this'll be a first as I have never done any masonary painting before.

    Have a Super Saturday folks.
