Settee's are scrubbed, they were yuk, didn't realise how much dirt was on them  They look like new now though. Cushions and throw in the washing machine.

Having a break before I start doing something else, plus i don't want to hoover cause that will be the rest of jack gone :( or is that just being silly??

Not daft at all hon - my Dad was the same when he lost our Collie. He went as far as taking the hoover contents out into the garden and popping it under Zacks favourite tree.

Claire not silly at all. Do what feels best for you. When we lost our Dog i was having a sneaky cry whilst putting the washing out in the garden, when i noticed a blue tit taking what i thought was grass and weeds from under our garden bench. It was only after it had flown off and as I walked past where it had been that i realised it was collecting the dog hairs to use in it's nest. Seems silly but i found that so comforting.

Claire - grieve how you want to . Pets are family, not just animals and its going to feel like there's a big hole in your family. it will get easier but it just takes time xxxx I am all for having a wee cry as and when you need it, I am a firm believe in "better out than in" when it comes to emotions :o

Souk - Well done on your 5lb :T

Crickett - I've had mornings like that in the past  Amazing what you can get done when you're focused LOL

think I will start in the dining room, get that room sorted and floors washed, I might see if I can find a tiny box and keep a bit of his hair in with his lead, his collar is staying with him.

Bin men are coming down the street, just went to stop Jack jumping in the window and barking at them lol. I'ts very quiet.

So sorry to hear about Jack Claire xx Lovely idea to keep a box with some reminders of him.

Having my second three day week in a row here, which is lovely, but am soo unmotivated about work. Have found a potential new job to apply for (part time so a slightly scary step), plus should be finding out tonight about some new opportunities via my second job (so part time might not be such a scary prospect). Exciting possibilities, but all feels a bit up in the air and unreachable at the moment.

  • Sorry I wasn't around last night but I will pop over to t'other side later on today to contribute.

Right ho, the washing machine is broken (again) so need to get that sorted plus the second half of the garden fence is calling.

Claire, you need to do whatever feels right. Lots of love to you and the family today.

Finally getting back on here ... I thought I'd subscribed, but hadn't :o

Claire, I'm so sorry to hear about Jack. As for keepsakes, of course! I'd known my cats were failing some time before they died, and what I did was to keep any whiskers I found in the house - very distinctive, as one had grey, and one white. I just have a little box of them (and their ashes, and some cards). Its grief the same as any other grief, just do what feels right. I'm glad you're keeping some of his hair :grouphug:
