Personally, I would go with the punching of the lights out Thrifty. Some people have their heads so far up their own bahookies, they see through their tonsils. Your "acquaintance" appears to be one of them. I wish there was an ointment for it. It would be a best seller!!
I have decided to join the blogosphere again. This is my third attempt, but I have learnt important lessons from Firewalker and MG, as well as some other blogs I have been visiting now and again. For some time I have wanted to write down my journey to a simpler life, a bit like MG, but from a different perspective. So, I thought, bite the bullet... use it as occupational therapy. When I am happier with the layout and my content, I might link to it via my homepage thingy. MG, I hope you don't think I have nicked your idea... I don't think we are covering the same ground, but I promise to link to your blog (and to Firewalker's) when I am discussing similar topics.I am really fired up about this... and you know how much I love writing. So now my occupational therapy is blogging and cross stitching!
Right... off to make dinner. I am ashamed to admit that tonight it is going to be dinner from the Indian. Naughty us. But then, I suspect we will be in bed dead early, cos we were both up at 3am! *yawn*!
See you all tomorrow... the day of the dreaded Occupational Health meeting."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
That sounds like a plan crickett!!! Best therapy ever.
Hope your computer is more reliable than mine though - frustrating writing and not being able to post for a week. But I am learning to love technology - honest

(When I am feeling calmer, she shall be let go, with love, to follow her own path otherwise I may just punch her lights out).
Thank you but my Aspie son is not out-of-control, nor is he a problem, he is in fact an sensitive, intelligent young man who is a joy to live with. My family is not broken, it does not need fixed and if she can't handle the fact that my family is different to hers, that's her problem.
I cannot tell you how incensed I am but you may all be getting the gist by now. As a family we may be a square peg but we will not be hammered into a round hole just to make other people feel easier.
Sorry for the rant, I shall now go and make tea, Thriftyxxx
I have an Aspie grandson and my DIL has similar problems at times. I just wish people weren't so sanctimonious under the guise of 'helping'. If you want to punch her lights out, I'll hold your coat. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -
Woohooo !!! I am booked to do a 30 minute survey with TalkTalk on Friday - for £30 - only another £11 or so to find during the month to take me up to 1%!!!
Thank you Universe

Pootle, pootle, pootle nowt doing here today - ploddy day at work (so no probs there) answered a snotty email from a parent with a very nice reasoned reply which should do the trick and taught my class who were a bit gormless today and then a second training evening on manual handling.
Good for you on the legal help Marru, they should be able to cut through the jargon and help you put your case across well. Hugs to Thrifty and anyone having a pants day - I do blame the weather a lot for people feeling carp - it has been hot and wet today with hailstones this afternoon, no wonder I have no idea what to wear and half the people I know have got stinky coldsMortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Hugs to Trifty!!!
Met the solicitor, she is lovely and accommodated to see me while DD was in beavers. I left my whole file with her (I had taken copies of what I thought was the most important bits but she wanted the whole lot). So I feel now so much relief it is difficult to express.
Completely and utterly shattered. Need to get DD to bed (Beaver night, always a late one) and then sit down to watch Apprentice and do some stitching. Sorry, no computer set ups today. There is tomorrow. And if tomorrow doesn't come then it didn't matter anyway :rotfl:

Good news about the solicitor Marru and glad you have someone to fight your corner with you.I have an Aspie grandson and my DIL has similar problems at times. I just wish people weren't so sanctimonious under the guise of 'helping'. If you want to punch her lights out, I'll hold your coat.
:D:D I have however settled with sending a tart email "returning" her link. I have also included a link to the National Autistic Society website with the (sarcastic) comment that if she is interested in learning about Autism, this site will provide her with balanced and accurate information about living with Autism.
Actually folks, she has unknowingly done me a big, big favour. You know the straw that breaks the camel's back... well I am done, so done... I wrote earlier this week that it felt painful to claim benefits. Well...
I am done feeling guilty and apologetic about claiming benefits.
I am done feeling tense when people ask why ds or myself is not working
I am done feeling that I have to justify why we live such a quiet, simple life
I am done feeling embarrassed when I have to take my adult son to the hairdresser, doctor, dentist, optician, on the bus, what-ever
and I am truly done with ignorant, judgemental people
I think I have just reached my tipping point.0 -
Well done, Maru. Hugs, Thrifty and good luck Crickett.
I have not had a wonderful day myself - but getting better. On a positive note - I have an iPad2. And have not had to pay for it - work did (well I worked hard for work and they expropriate my surplus value - will expalin later).
