Hi guys & gals
Thanks all for your support - & yes, I'll go for it. In case you're wondering MG's comment about the bosses boss - I thought I was applying to go to a coffee morning with one of the directors (and bear in mind I work for a BIG bank) but it turned out to be a 121 mentoring session. On first name terms with him now
Have a nice day in St A MG - and I'm sorry but sat might be out - DH is off & his neices are up from London before they head back to Oz - so better do family thing & be nice
Off to work I go now - but I'll drop you a PM later Crickett if that's OK - any help is appreciated:oDebts 07/12/2021

Up early cos there is a DS2 will a "sore tummy" - that ended up being a huge case of "Ahem"!!! - wind:rotfl:
Clootie - you know you need to get the application in don't you? - any woman who would ask the bossy boss to be her mentor has to move up the rungs. Well I know it wasn't totally deliberate, but he didn't run away laughing did he????
Claire - is the pattern a downloadable one?? If it is how's about flinging it over here and I can write the instructions in something you understand - thats my speciality, taking stuff that sounds difficult and making it sound easy.
Off with the boys to St A today - but I have so much to plough through that I think I am going to treat myself to a sit down coffee somewhere nice to work................... let me explain.
Since that day of "71p and three nappies" I went onto "emergency budget" - one of the things that went was my "very occasional" nice coffee. I started packing a flask and a cookie for days when I was out waiting or the boys - and whilst that is nice, and very MSE it wasn't much of a treat.
Last week my visitor treated me to an Iced Coffee - and it was fabulous!!!!! We sat for ages and got loads of work done and I felt really spoiled, so today I am going to count a nice coffee as "rent" on a table so that I can plough through some work.
I know its a "head thing" - but I have decided to treat myself to a brand new life for my birthday and accepting that sometimes you are allowed to have a treat is part of that.
DS2 wants breakfast

Morning. Have a bad attack of the blahs today. Feel very blah indeed at the moment. I think it might be an anticlimax from doing the portfolio and trying to get some forward movement in some other aspects of my life. And I can't do anything with those until I move house. And since we put it on the Market in April we have had the grand total of 0 people around to look at it. Blah.
Look forward to your PM Clootie and I will help if I can!
Have a good day MG and enjoy your coffee treat!
Good Luck Marru - you will knock them off their socks...

Cricket - An attack of the 'blahs' is perfectly reasonable ... after all you have been on the 'Portfolio / Spreadsheet from hell / Budgets / Bl**dy woman' (to name but a few) hamster wheel for weeks. So you have a gap and it is perfectly understandable for you to look for the next frog to eat.
Do you think you could experiment with seeing how 'blah' feels, without filling the space with anything else? I don't mean do this all day, but it might be insightful ...0 -
Crickett sorry you've got an attav=ck of the 'blah's' but try to enjoy some time out from all the recent stuff and maybe just plod for a few days? (Hard for us lot, I know!)
Clare I'm just waiting for some feedback from the agency now on what to do next but job sounds interesting, if a big step up (again) but I'l go for it in the interest of variety, money, something to put on the CV and well, why the hell not! Ages ago I posted about my FEAR that I wouldn't get anything else after this and I now see that the FEAR was silly and unfounded and that there are great things out there for all of us if we pro actively go after them. I've never been one to sit and wait for anything and my big sis, who arrives back from Oz for a few weeks tomorrow is the same.
Im going to the airport to meet her and will take her home on the train. My bro is leaving work early for the day so we'll all be there together. This is a rare treat in a family of wanderers!!! A few weeks ago I was out with other managers and one bascially implied that my mum couldn't have been that great as she has 3 children and no grandchildren but she was and is an amazing mum who has done that rare thing of giving us all the confidence to be as we are. None of us are particularly conventional it's true but when we get round that table tomorrow there'll be a lot of laughs for sure. So looking forward to it.'The road to a friends house is never long'0 -
Have a good time with your Sis Souk

I know that a 'well known chain of coffee shops' is regarded as a bad overpriced company, but my impression is that they do regard the price of the coffee as 'rent'.
Any time I go into one there are always people working at some of the tables - with laptops and all and they don't seem to go in for the 'clear the cups, wipe the table, we expect you to go as soon as the last drop has left the cup' routine.
(mind you I do wish the St A one was bigger)0 -

Ooooo
I've been asked to teach on the first year accounting modules next year (in a past life I did a PGCE, but never really took to teaching in schools, hence why I ended up as an accountant instead).
I really don't know what to do - on one hand it's a real compliment, on the other hand, the idea of standing there in front of them fills me with dread - I remember the feeling well from doing it on my teaching practices at school.
He's emailed to ask what I'd like to teach, and I don't know how to reply
(Did I mention, it's £40 an hour?)0
