Morning Matrix-ers
Got a long list of errands to run this morning as mindee is off somewhere with school until mid-afternoon when I need to collect so want to make the time as productive as possible. That includes telling my little inner gremlin to !!!!!! (admittedly not in front of DD;)) and I need to start focusing on the positives around me. For some reason it feels like it's been "one of those weeks" and the constant playing catch up after half term doesn't help either.
Anyway enough waffle from me
Clootie - Positive vibes for your application xx
souk - Positive vibes for your application.....I love the idea of completing applications in a contrasting colourBlack is soooooo boring LOL
Claire - I neglected to say WELL DONE on your boiler fund and please don't talk yourself out of having a go. Sounds like you are very much a visual learner so perhaps try looking at some youtube videos (I am sure there are some) to help your confidence. And at the end of the day if you have a go so what.....as my mum said to me the worst thing you'll have to do is unpick it
Crickett - I think my week has been a mini week of the Blahs, just go with the flow as another poster says (sorry I forgot who) you have had a busy few weeks with your portfolio etc......stepping off the manic pace is bound to feel a little bit of a come down xxx
Have a great day everybody.........................but I don't want to forget lots and lots and lots and lots of positive vibes for Marru todayYou can do it my lovely xxxx

I've been asked to teach on the first year accounting modules next year (in a past life I did a PGCE, but never really took to teaching in schools, hence why I ended up as an accountant instead).
I really don't know what to do - on one hand it's a real compliment, on the other hand, the idea of standing there in front of them fills me with dread - I remember the feeling well from doing it on my teaching practices at school.
He's emailed to ask what I'd like to teach, and I don't know how to reply
(Did I mention, it's £40 an hour?)
Teach the thing you know best.....that way if you lose your way in teaching notes etc it is all in your head anyway.
And for £40 an hour even I would have a go :rotfl:I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Say you'll give it a go for a term and see how you get on...
They wouldn't ask you if they didn't think you could do it, would they?0 -

Ooh tmif, how exciting! I know the fear - I've done the same thing and it scared the life out of me
You'll do fabulously - the key in my opinion is BEING PREPARED - and PRACTICE what you're going to say over and over and OVER - don't try and wing it! Well, it might work for you, but it certainly doesn't work for me... Why not map out what you *might* say, send it as a suggestion, sayyes, and THEN put all the work in (it'll be a lot of work, and rather scary, but they may well ask you to do it again and it'll be easier next time! :T)
MG I love coffee shops tooWhenever my work lets me I toddle off and sit in one - never thought of the tea price as table rent though - what a lovely idea! :T :T Our local one is a small independent one, and will let you sit there all day if you like
Might see if I can sneak out today, but sadly I think today mostly requires secure internet stuff.
Claire - good luck with teh bags, hope MG can help make things clearer!
Crickett - take it easy, you've done lots of big things lately!
Working at home for me today, feel rather rushed, but that might be because I haven't actually started work yet... :rotfl: So I'll be working late, but I just *needed* a nice leisurely morning, feeling a little harrassed at the momentHead down and will concentrate today, and I'm going to allow myself a couple of hours tonight to get all the things going round in my head down into a nice Patchwork Life plan to work on over the next couple of years :T :T

Oh how wise the Matrix is! Thanks ladies!! Just had one of my two meetings today and that went quite well.
Just had a lovely Mango and Banana Smoothie for my breakfast. And I have a tuna pasta salad for lunch. Dinner tonight is Tacos with lots of salad and refried beans. Not sure about what exercise I am going to do tonight. Probably hoovering upstairs and moving the spare room furniture around a little bit. Oh and mopping the tiled floors downstairs. And if I am feeling energetic (ha!) I might hoover the inside of my car!!Oooh, get me... living on the edge or what?! LOL!
Right... best get back to it. Lots to do today... but I am not going to rush. I am merely going to plod!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -

Yes, you should do it. Why the fear, though? What bothers you? Is it that you may appear incompetent? That they will 'catch you'?
If 'yes' a way to deal with this is to realise that your job when standing infront of these young people is not to be a 'know it all', not to 'lecture' (they usually fall asleep when people do that), not to teach as many university lecturers believe, but to enable learning. Once you remember this and use it as a starting point you will be fine - and more importantly you can make it fun.

Morning all. Day off today but back to work tomorrow and Saturday. So I am in the middle of dealing with some financial stuff. I swear I think that call centre staff are bred in labs to be the most obstructive patronising imbecilic people on earth and if this particular person was sitting opposite me I would by now have had a full on shouting match with him. What really makes my blood boil is the way that they speak to you as if you have no brains whatsoever. Last week one of them said these words to me "I have it in front of me now and I am looking at it this afternoon" On Monda I was told that he never said that he actually said "he was viewing it on the screen and would deal with it ASAP. As I was preoccupied with bigger fish to fry I let it go. Today I rang and he is in a meeting (and I believe that?) and will call me back in one hour. Now if I say that I was supposed to have a rather large amount of money released at the beginning of June and I have a deadline pending for the end of next week to pay a deposit on a certain house and they are messing me about and not releasing the money that I need to pay that deposit and if I dont get it released today it is likely that I will be in breach of contract and possibly sued for thousands (that I dont have) not to mention that I have a deal with a company to transfer to euros and if I dont meet their deadline I will have to pay more as the pound has dropped against the euro since agreeing the contract deal. Can you understand why I am LIVID.
Phew - sorry ladies needed to get that off my chest. I am promised that they will ring me back in an hour. So can I ask for calming vibes to be sent through. Also your wishes to the universe that the pot is filled from one pot to another by Monday morning. Thanks all.
Souk - people make me so irritated when they think it is ok to comment and judge other peoples families. So what if your Mum doesnt have grand kids. She has 3 very independent, interesting, caring children. She is responsible for you all having such fantastic attitudes because she gave you your wings. Too often people think that there is a need for grandchildren/children to enrich a persons life. I usually find that these people who judge others can often (not always) have something lacking in their own lives and feel that the only way they can get fulfilment is by living through children which can be really sad. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
Cheri,
take a deep breath and calm down; as a start. Then remember 'your wish is my command'. Stop focusing on how you will miss the deadline and start believing that you will meet the deadline. I am not sure how this stuff works but it does - you will notice that small opening start to appear (I suspect you just start noticing them then because you are sensitised) and you just have to grab them.
Yes, these people can be annoying - but when you get annoyed is when things fold.
Gosh, I am really buying into all this metaphysics stuff - but it is working for me!
