All sorts of things can trigger difficulties within relationships and one thing which happened with me in a previous relationship was that I had a couple of years of massive personal change and growth but my partner did not change and grow at the same time.

The relationship did not survive and a book I wish I had come across at the time is "If We're So In Love, Why Aren't We Happy?" by Susan Page as I believe that relationship could have worked if I'd had a different attitude towards it and understood why the changes in me felt threatening to him.

Since finding the book, I have used several of the ideas to heal relationships with my family and also to improve general friendships.

I have now met a wonderful man although I am reluctant to move in with him because of my perfectionism. This is something I need to work on. There, I've at last admitted it to myself so now I can do something about it :j!

There's a course I would dearly love to do in Glasgow - three days after my birthday next month.

I'm asking the Universe to send me the money to go as this is one of my "big goals"

So everyone repeat after me "It's on it's way"

Have I rambled enough to offend everyone yet??? Do hope not, that's absolutely not my intention at all! :o

Going to shut my eyes and press submit and hope this is just a little something for us all to ponder.

Have a beautiful day lovely ladies xxxx

Cheery, keep you eyes wide shut, please (if you must). This is one of the most thoughtful posts I have read for sometime now. I feel very similar to you but:

    1) I like men, always have done. Not all women like man or, for that matter men like women. According to MrF he doesn't like going out with malke friends only because of the way in which men talk about women.
    2) I have had time to reflect lately and have come to the realisation that the main fabric of groups and society is respect; this has to be mutual but mutuality is multiplied one sidedness. So I took a decision to give respect - sometime I get it back and sometimes I don't. Generally this makes the world a better place and catches on.
    3) There are many cases when there is a real problem - joking about it is just a way to diffuse tension.

Now I would like to get back to technology, men and the needs of women. In mid 80s I read a science fiction story the name of which I have forgotten. It was about a robot called Tony who looked like a human and was specifically designed and programmed to meet every need a woman may have. A woman had him and to cut a long story short she fell in love with him. I remember feeling sorry for the robot rather than the woman for some reason.

What I was drawing attention to when I asked Souk a question was that all humans are social beings and we were not meant to live alone. Everytime I hear someone say things like 'or why do I need a man', 'I need a man for one thing only' etc. what I actually hear is fear and the fact that this person have not met their other half.

We tend to think about coupledom of particular format. But couples have different arrangements and make different contracts. Having a partner with whom you can be who you are is wonderful; I know because I found mine. If, on the other hand, one needs variety there are open marriages (I have shared my Finish story, I think). And of course there is always technology as well.

My mum has said several times that men should be kept in a [STRIKE]stable [/STRIKE] stud farm (OK not a stable necessarily but the word I am looking for flew out of my head and is no where to be seen :o - brain finally strikes back LOL) and then "rented" out for a night. Sounds like you've on to something there Souk as sometimes I think my mum might actually be right LOL

    I think that's called a brothel!

Lots and lots of positivity here today, feel like I'm bursting with it.

I'm not a very good liar, my friend always joins us for tea on a Thursday but she had to cancel tonight, so I've booked hubby and I into his favourite restaurant for a suprise treat for him as he's had a challenging week with work and the court case. A lot of me actually feels guilty I've lied when he emailed and asked what time friend is coming over and just said '6ish as usual', but are there instances lies aren't always negative?
