Problems with my laptop...possibly down to a problem with Vista updates?

You have not got a genuine licence for it. Perhaps you have a 'loader' installed in order to fool the OS into thinking that you have a genuine licence.

It has UAC switched off by Default. What were you thinking?

I don't understand why your dodgy repairman didn't simply put an untouched installation of Windows 7 on your computer.

What happens when you have your next problem? No one will likely help you as they don't know relevant details about the OS.

Did he supply you with with the disc?

What about activation? Perhaps you can ask him how he activated the OS.

oh right, I dont know much about activating the OS or anything...sounds pretty tech to me!

I think I'd better revert back to vista or just windows 7 normal

With your dodgy copy, you will get no support from Microsoft, nor here. Here, not necessarily because of the moral argument; but to do with the lack of predictability.

Can imagine the irritation felt by someone here in the future whilst trying to help you fix your computer, only to find out along the way that you have an unorthodox copy of Windows 7 on your PC.

I guess by installing that copy to your PC it makes it more likely that you will return to your 'repairman' in the future in the case of a problem.
