  • So, Thresher offer a standard buy two get one free on everything by inflating the single bottle price. By offering 40% off single bottle prices they are only giving you 7% off their regular retail. Not to say it's a bad deal but it isn't 40%!

This 40% deal seems like a great "unplanned" PR exercise for threshers. The winners with this offer I guess are the people who "know" their wine and got in early and bought up the rarer vintages cheap. The rumor is that they are not restocking these until the voucher expires and just restocking the standard stuff that is overpriced in the first place.

Personally I have got better value out of Tesco Wine taking advantage of their 25% discount along with using a few secretish codes flying around the net. Some deals have been terrific especially on the Gold Medal Tesco Cava normally 9quid a bottle (said by some wine experts to be as good as the most expensive champers (30quid a bottle jobs)) and I have ended up paying 3.80 a bottle after 25% discount, delivery, 10quid discount and 3% cashback quidco. All from the comfort of my own armchair!!!

Good luck anyway chaps and gals. Just don't forget there may be other great deals out there to be had.

  • It's really sad to see this site, and through it, the BBC, manipulated into free national advertizing by clever marketing, it doesn't do anything for the credibility of the site. It has confirmed for me what I already suspected, that if I was looking for a good value bottle of wine I wouldn’t go near a Thresher, and that if ANYONE tells me they are giving me a "Special offer" I should treat them like a mugger in a hoodie. Sadly, I don't think Martin's implied advice to use the voucher (by making it available on this site, for download) was very good, or well researched, so I must look very carefully at his other recommendations to see what vested interests could be behind them.

Purrrlease! That goes without saying - there is no such thing as a free lunch, and there is ALWAYS a catch behind an offer or freebee, even if it is *just* giving them your address!

Bought a bottle of Bollinger special cuvee champagne just now for £23.50 with my voucher - as it's all I wanted it's a good deal, Tesco are selling it for £29ish for one bottle.

I have another voucher to use - any recommendations as to a nice fruity red wine and another bubbly for me to get?

On the red front, you can't usually go too wrong with a nice Chateaux Neuf du Pape...

  • I love the way Threshers are going "ooh dear, we might go bust". very clever marketing by a poor over priced company. Dead worrying that Martin and the media have fallen from it. It's really devalued this site which has been going steadily downhill for a while now.
