I went to Asda the other day with a load of coupons - Finish, Huggies, Dairylea, Philapelphia and salad as well as £3 worth of luncheon vouchers that I get from doing Pinecone surveys.
The SA had to call a supervisor over twice and then it started beeping 'coupon limit reached' so the supervisor had to be called over again. I got some rather unfavourable looks from the old trout (seems Asda has them too lol) but oh well, I walked out having paid £2 for £20 of stuff!

Glad to hear can be canny with coupons in uk guess task is

    finding the coupons
    finding retailer that stocks it.
Getting retailer to accept I find depends on cashiers.

Ithink most I used in supermarket was 3maybe.

Not sure my local sainsburys or co-op would love me as queues bad as it is would definatly hold them up.

Cashier in farmfoods said that farmfoods coupons could be taken after their valid date not sure how true this is.
we normally get farmfood flyer every few months with lots of money off bill coupons but its miles away so dont go too often.

    New products often have coupons.

Take that new healthy cooking oil vernon and i mam advertising on telly.

Its currently£1deal in sainsburys last week-its its chilled ailse.
If you could find a coupon it brings it to under a quid.

Ican see point of stocking up on non foods, toiliet rolls, lomglife like pasta.

But was baffledby corn chips(crisps)they actuallyvery shortdated, that couple did seem bit on the large side.

I think the saying abargains only a bargain if you need, want or will use it springs to mind! That woman with the mustard wasbuying for buyings sake.A fewof them were buying random things like vitamins/supplements to get money back was weird.
Their diets seemed bit on unhealthy side but they had large familes of 6/7kids can see why they doit.

What I want to knowis whats their secret for getting their husband and their kids in supermarket that long without whinging or misbehaving?:rotfl:

It would certainly take a lot of planning before hand.
Alotof time in store which I could do by myself but not with others.
Not sure my nerves could cope at the checkout gotin spot bother othermonth in sainsburys as hubby misjudged how much nectar points are worth 1500 points is not 15quid ashe thourght! Its 7.50 and can only been redeemed every 2.50 spent so theres always a catch.

The tesco ones bore me as only come out 4times ayear.
Seen advertising for double up but havent been sent any.
Wish I had got to grips with their pricematch before they changed it but again that would take time and organisation.

My mam weekly mags sometimes have couponsbut dont see food coupons in the monthlys normally non foods like toilitries or clothes.
Often the coupons for such small amountslike 30p anyway.

I have just watch some clips from this show.

The things that jump out of me is:

    1) there seems to be little in the way of fruit and veg and fresh meat
    2) seems to be mainly pre-packed boxed goods
    3) To get the vouchers it looks like you have to buy papers. And the woman with thousands of inserts spends 30 hours a week:eek: where does she get them from.

The man with all that toothpaste why? even with a large family it would take years to get through. And my husband accuses me of stockpiling if I have 5 or 10 of one thing.

Don't get me wrong fair play to them. But if I was able to buy boxed food products and toiletries for next to nothing. I would be giving most of it away to the local shelters not hoarding as these people do.

I do love the thrill of the chase of a great bargain. Recently one supermarket was clearing a lot of it's stationary and craft sets for less than 50p. I must have spent about £15-£20 over approx a week. What did I do with all the stuff gave it away to a CS.

So I ended up with a double thrill for me. Getting bargains and shopping but knowing that it will help someone else.

    Yours

    Calley

  • I used some coupons I got off the coupon thread in Sainsbugs today. I got the £5 off the finish quantimatic dispenser and twelve washes and as it was on sale for £5.08 it was a good deal at 8p :jAlso used £1 off Iams cat food, 50p off McCains Southern fries, 50p off bagels and 50p off dole fruit packs - the latter were on special so 54p for a pack of four. Not bad savings but you can only get one or two of each coupon. I had no problems using them but most of the cashiers know me reasonably well as I buy loads for work.
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

I agree with Calleyw. It just seemed so wrong to stockpile all that stuff. I would have to give loads of it away too, and have the thrill of buying ( lets face it, who doesn't love to get a bargain?) and of giving it away.
And another thing..... why were their kids not mortified? I watched some of the prog with my 12 yr old, who just said to me 'Don't even think about it!!!' They seemed a bit weird to me. Especially the one with the high heeled boots.... who the h*ll would wear those to go shopping. OOps, silly me, she was on the telly, doing dances and not a bit embarrassed. I'm sure the check out operators see them coming and think 'Oh, no. Please, please, please don't come to my till!'

Do Asda and Tesco accept ANY coupon for a product as long as you buy the product?

I don't understand supermarkets getting @r$ey over accepting coupons, 9 times out of 10 it's the producer that has to foot the bill for their coupon. In addition any supermarket price cuts on brands are also met by the manufacturers...........so the supermarkets are always going to get their money back and manufacturers who fight to get their products on the shelves will bear the brunt :(

They probably don't like all the admin of claiming back, but if that's the case stop bu@@ering about playing marketing games, give the producer a fair price and give the consumer consistent and fair prices instead of ones that go up and down more than a lady of the night's undergarments :p:rotfl:

supermarkets are paid by the manufacturers to accept coupons, so actually make a profit for every single coupon they accept.
