supermarkets are paid by the manufacturers to accept coupons, so actually make a profit for every single coupon they accept.

    CWxx

And people who go into a supermarket because they have a coupon often buy other things too, so they make even more profit.
  • I always sign up for freebies because they often come with coupons for money off, the Twinings sample offer came with a 50p off coupon and there's one with the Lipton sample.
I get these kind of things because they're staples and all it means is changing my brand. I always make sure to get the Boots magazine (free to me as I'm an advantage card holder) and they publish a full page of coupons in the back.
I use these for presents and again change my brands of things such as moisturiser. I think the main thing to remember is always to have the coupons with you!

    Not any more.
I think it's referred to as Black Friday here, when after a >£5 voucher for Tesco was shouted about on tv and the world and his dog printed it and got free stuff Tesco shut this down and you must now buy the item to use a coupon. See here:

I do wish some customers READ their vouchers before calling me b1tch, liar etc because I refused them.
    Here are the reasons why:
. Voucher expired 4 months ago
. Its for a different shop such as 100 bonus Boots Advantage points when purchased Radox shower gel
. We don't sell that product
. Its for money off a different supermarket own brand line. I work for Sainsburys and was given a coupon for 50p off Tesco Finest sausages.
. Especially from national newspapers. Coupons say 'Only can be used in Co-op and Tesco'

Not A Chance Of Matching USA, Bargains Can Be Had But Not As Good As America. There seems to be a culture of shame regarding coupon use in this country, along with jealousy from trouts (certain staff members) and ignorance with regards to policy training and types of coupons. The US has masses of coupons available, we are selling ourselves short as shoppers in availability and levels of customer services. Here's a few examples of my experience.....

    1) I wanted to buy 15 Quantamatics from Asda £5 with £5 coupon. This resulted in c/o nearly having a heart attack, c/s made up 3 limit although no shelf edge label indicated this. Complained to h/o and given apology and giftcard. 1200 boxes cereal and a cart full toothbrushes, I couldn't imagine the reaction in this country.
    .
    2) Abused in Tesco for using coupons, managers and security standing over till and then closing it after i went through to check what i was doing, of course they found nothing wrong as i only acted in line with there coupon policy at the time. In fact 2 members of staff took it upon themselves to go to the new manager's office and complain about the way staff treated me.

    3) Abused by staff member from same store when in the gym training.

    4) Refused coupons many many times as staff ignorant to coupon policy; even though i know they are wrong. I have trained many members of staff.

    5) Till operator swapped over repeatedly when at the till.

    6) Followed around the strore by managers and security.

    7) C/O trying read a faint and miniture pack size on a coupon to see if i'm buying right product, when it said clearly any pack on the top. My father had to read this with a magnifying glass.

Ocassionally bargains can be had, but i know it will always be hassle and you have grow thick skin to put up with some of the discrimination and nastiness you have to endure.
    SIMPLES!

I came on here after watching extreme couponing lastnight, i too wanted to find out if this can be done here, and i thought 'well if it can be done then it will be on good old money saving expert' LOL :D

After watching it i have decided to start using some coupons now, which i don't normally bother with, but hey, if it saves money! Although i would never try to do it to the extent they do, i think if i can save a couple of pound here and there then i'll be happy!
:starmod: May all your wishes come true! :starmod:

I find the co-op always good at accepting vouchers, never have a problem (only ever have 1 or 2 at a time though!).

I used a coupon recently in superdrug & the assistant looked so put out & angry. Like I was trying to get one over on them or something

I think that's what shocked me most about the US prog, how the store managers & assistants were so friendly & encouraging about the coupons, maybe because they're on TV....
