how do I remove road marking paint from car?

Reading through this old thread why has no one picked up on the fact that road markings are not paint !
The road markings are actually a coloured thermo plastic, it is initially a dry powder which is melted in the huge vats you see on the back of the lorries when you see them being "painted", hence them being burnt / melted off when they are being altered, the reflective side comes from glass beads which are spread onto the plastic as it is being laid.
I doubt very much that anything other than chipping off the stuff gets rid of it if a car gets splashed by it, thinners etc wont budge it as its not a paint !
