The only way they could affect your credit rating is by taking you to court and winning a case against you and then you not paying what the judged ordered.
However the chances of them proving that you were the driver, that you knowingly entered in to a contract and that they can enforce a contract penalty which are illegal against you are very very slim indeed.
So in short they will not be affecting your credit rating as you have no credit agreement with them which may be down to the fact you didnt actually owe them any money and the parking ticket they sent is a FAKE and the other letters have no more authority than a begging letter from Dr whamboutyu from Nigeria and his $456,999.000 dollars he want to share with you.

Thank you, that is a great help :)

I have been ignoring two charges from this company (using a visitors pass in my own parking space at work, instead of my own pass, which I hadn't been told wasn't allowed), and today received a "Final Reminder" for the first one, increasing it to £115.

Am trying best to ignore these charges having read quite a lot of threads, but am also attempting to move house, and the last thing I need is my credit rating affected by this -can anyone reassure me on that please?

    Thanks for any help!

Seconding the advice you have already been given. There is no effect on your credit rating even though their scamograms pretend you may just 'get a CCJ'. It doesn't work like that!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thank you, greatly appreciated, as the letter they sent is quite intimidating!

Intimidation is how private parking scams work. Fake PCN so unenforceable.

Ahh yes, Parking Collection Services also known as Debt Recovery Plus. A company with powers to enforce debts. Well, at least they believe they have and would really, really, really like you to believe that too. After all they can only make their money if you do believe them and if you don't they, their wives, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and children will all have to go hungry. Shame that.

Unfortunately, the truth of it is that like all debt collectors DR+/PCS do have powers to collect debts and of that there can be no doubt. They can, if so required, call on the full weight of the law to back-up their actions. So what are these powers? Well, strictly between us - obviously not to be broadcast - but you and I have the same powers. I know that sounds daft but its absolutely correct. You and I have exactly the same powers as the debt collectors to collect debts and that is simply to ask for them to be paid. That's it. Nothing could be simpler.

Calling yourself a debt collector requires no special oath sworn before a justice of the peace after many months pouring over the weighty tomes of debt science. No membership of a secret organisation, no seven-year apprenticeship to some master of the arcane rites nor any bizarre admission ceremony featuring aprons, rolled trouser legs or the smashing of plates. No, all you have to do is apply for a licence under the Consumer Credit Act, pay the appropriate fee then get some cards printed with your business details on and that's it. You're in. And it can be even easier than that If you were thinking of collecting just business to business debts as you don't even need a licence.

Now obviously none of the debt collectors actually want you to know that as the real secrets of debt collecting are having a reasonably thick skin and an obstinate line in sheer b*llsh*t because when all you can do is to ask for the money you need a good few ways of dressing that up to sound "hard". If you ain't "hard" people take their time and you don't make your money until they've paid up so you need things to sound "hard" and "urgent".

In essence, all a debt collector has in his armoury is bs. They have no power to make you bleed, ill or pregnant and unless you original creditor has formally told you under the terms of the Law of Property Act 1925 that they have sold the debt to a debt collector (and that happens only in a minority of cases) then a debt collector can do diddly squat. Well, unless they want to stamp their feet, scream, shout and tear their hair out there is nothing they can do unless you count wasting their own money on writing to you.

Chasing unpaid private parking invoices really is a lowly trade and no self-respecting debt collector would ever buy them as debts - even at pennies on the pound - because they are far too high risk. So, if even a debt collector wouldn't chance his arm you can work out just how enforcible that parking invoice is. Yep, on a scale of 0 to 10 its pretty much zero.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

Thank you, appreciated -the whole debt collection process does scare me as I believe the hype!:o

Which is why I nearly paid straight away to avoid the stress, but everything I've read is giving me a bit of courage!

  • It's been months now since the wife parked in a retail centre car park and dared to also visit a shop that wasn't on site. I am truly indebted to the advice on this site. The letters have been getting increasingly desperate and threatening and, as per advice, I have ignored every one (I just wish 'er indoors could be so relaxed about it).

The latest is from PCS and they are still offering a discount for prompt payment. In your dreams, you crooks, in your dreams.

I don't expect the government to solve everything, but shouldn't these cowboys be banned. I expect quite a few have paid up, or they wouldn't be able to pay the salary of their staff at the OK Corral.
  • I'm waiting for the first one to just issue a charge for the whole day (£5.00 or somesuch) and in circumstances like this most of us would just pay up and grizzle a bit. By going for an obvious penalty they have woken up a lot of drivers to the fact that its unenforcible and now just ignore.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

That's precisely what drew me here. If they'd ticketed me for £20 or £25, I may have just paid up in my ignorance. But £75 rising £100 after a week was taking the p***. So I searched a bit and came here. The rest is history (though I am rather disappointed at the measly 3 letters I have received from PPS in the last 7 months).
