Thanks BigAl- that link suggests you can put up as fence no problems as long as it no higher than 2m.
I'm sure he will be dead pleased when he sees a fence going up the other side that is taller than his. Thats got to look ugly from his side :rotfl:

If its going to be a problem, paint a trellis and attach to the fence. Is it a privately owned property neigbour? everyone in our area just paints their side of the fences no problem, unless she was using too much paint and it was trickling down the fence on the other side? or paint it in the dead of night when he can't see....

If it's the neighbour's fence you can't attach anything to it, you'd have to put in your own posts to attach panels or trellis onto.

If any of their fence is on your property, i.e. over the boundary line, then it's surely different. If they have chosen to put something on your land you should be able to do what you like with it.

She could have been a bit more polite. It is her neighbour's property, she has no right to tamper with it. Talk about entitlement!

As for tattoos, chirping "sorry if that offends" doesn't make offensive (and bigoted) remarks less offensive.

Such judgemental, snitty attitudes from people who don't have the wit to know basic planning laws.

It's hardly bigoted to say that you don't like tattoos! :rotfl: I find them ugly and offensive. Some are just plain intimidating, especially when paired with a shaved head, big biceps and a scary dog. Imho.

As for 'entitlement', that's a bit OTT, isn't it? The poor girl wasn't defacing the fence, just painting her side of it to try to cheer the place up a bit. She meant no harm. The neighbour was the one who behaved badly by being so harsh imho - he could have been nicer and I'm sure that the whole thing would have been resolved more amicably.

Maybe, in hindsight, she should have asked the neighbour first, but then perhaps he isn't the most approachable of people. ;)

And as for tattoos - ugh. Minging. Sorry if that offends anyone, but I don't like them.
As for painted fences - ugh. Eyesore. Sorry if that offends anyone, but I don't like them.

Apart from not being painted, there is no mention of this fence being damaged or sub standard. Your neighbour has spent money on a fence, why do you think you have the right to paint it.
On a thread titled, Problems with Neighbours!, you should consider who is causing the problem.

The bigoted bit is making judgements about someone because of their looks. The fact that you just added to that says a lot.

It doesn't matter if she meant harm or not, she was defacing his property by painting it. She is legally in the wrong no matter what her intentions, yet some of you seem intent on making him the bad guy. Entitlement clearly is not OTT, going by some of the attitudes on this thread.
