Orange - Rediculous Signal :(

For the last 4ish months my Orange signal has been on the decline, I've signed up to the scheme to use both Orange and T-Mobile signals but it makes no difference, I've also tried using different handsets to see if it makes a difference and no change
I've tried talking to them and they basically fob me off with improvements blah blah blah in my area are affecting my signal strength (middle of Cardiff) I was also advised to sign up for that T-Molbie jobby but like I said no difference, all e-mails of complaint get no reply what so-ever and with my latest phone call they hung up on me. I'm paying 35~p/m for nothing. Anyone have any advice please? I'm so tempted to just cancel the direct debit but I don't want to make a bad matter worse. Also according to Oranges own signal checker the postcodes I spend most of my time in should receive 100% signal but that's a load of tosh. I want to stress for the first few months of this contract signal wasn't really a problem, Now with about 12months left, its impossible. My phone is very important as its my only way of contact to the nursery where my son is daily. Sorry for the wall of text!

Don't cancel the DD.
Complain in writing to Orange, demand cancellation.
If they refuse complain to the ombudsman.0 -
whats the tmobile sig like where u r? can you force your fone to lock on to tmob 2g?0

I can't lock it to receive T-Mobile signal no, and it is a better signal much better I just never have it come up. I have so far resisted to cancel the DD and have written another e-mail to Orange support and sent it in writing also. So far though I'm not holding my breath waiting for a reply.0

Cancelling the direct debit won't cancel the contract merely your payments for it. The account will mount up and you'll get black marks on your credit file and if you leave it it will go to debt collectors.
At the end of the day no network guarantees coverage in all locations, and as long as you have some coverage you have no case, bad as it may be, and you'll be relying on the goodwill of the network.
Have you asked other people on Orange in your area if they have issues or is it just your account? Is it your phone or even sim card at fault?0 -
I have to disagree:...At the end of the day no network guarantees coverage in all locations, and as long as you have some coverage you have no case, bad as it may be, and you'll be relying on the goodwill of the network.
If the service was good and then worsened significantly in the same location, then the OP does have a case.shanesol86 wrote: »For the last 4ish months my Orange signal has been on the decline...0 -
Everyone I've asked complains about Orange at work, one of my managers said he was getting money off his monthly bills due to the poor coverage but I can't even get that far into a conversation with customer service over the phone. Had two calls hung up on me, after a lot of being passed around and others just tell me to apply for the dual signal thingy. And to confirm yes the signal has declined, it really does bother me now as I'm using a PAYG simcard just to be able to be contacted for emergencies while my son is at nursery, wish I'd never left 02

No service provider will ever guarantee a signal anywhere, because they simply can't make that offer.shanesol86 wrote: »My phone is very important as its my only way of contact to the nursery where my son is daily. Sorry for the wall of text!
If a phone is that important to you for contact with your son's school, I'd suggest either enabling the voicemail facility on your mobile (so you WILL get the message when you do get a signal), or getting a landline phone.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -

I understand signal can't be everywhere, but this is the centre of Cardiff. It's a very busy city. Differences in 02 signal compared to Orange are just gulfs apart its really poor. My main gripe is and I've stressed this to them in many e-mails, their coverage checker is a load of bull.0 -
You CAN lock the signal to T-Mobile, just in 2G mode only so you may need to disable 3G signal first.
As to the network share, the way it's set at the moment is that you have to TOTALLY lose Orange signal before the phone will register on T-Mobile. So if you have 1 bar of Orange it'll lock onto that unless you manually select T-Mobile.
In June-time, seamless 2G/3G will be in operation and then it won't matter as you'll get the strongest network regardless.
Hope that helps.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0
