I don't know if any day where you spend €950 before 9.30am can be considered a success! But on the bright side we now have a bathroom. Well nearly - still need taps but we have a toilet and shower and really funky basin and a double ended bath!

OH was working on the house today and I did all my grocery shopping and did a few messages around the place that I had to do. Frustrated cause I've gone through my budget already! And I only got paid yesterday!

It was my first week trial of my new strategy. I get paid weekly on Fridays. Plan was take out €100 cash. This should last all week, whatever was left in notes on Thursday I could spend on myself on "treats" so magazines, flowers, beauty stuff - whatever. But It's now Saturday and I've already spend almost €115!! And only about €15 of that was on treats! (ok that's still quite a lot really!). And they had gerberas today in Tesco for €5 which are my favourite flower and I didn't even buy any!

Went to the library today. Was about 2 weeks overdue with the books I had out! Keep forgetting I can renew them online if I can't get to the library. Anyway got 2 fiction books by 2 writers I really like, 3 cookbooks that I'll look at the pictures in but not cook anything and 1 diet book!

So now the challange is on not to spend too much more this week. Will have to pay for lunch on Tueday though that was cancelled last week.

The house is going to be so lovely with all those shiny new things:)

What was the €100 for? Food/petrol/benefit skincare set/magazines? I'm not that surprised it's gone, same problem here :(

Memorygirl does this challenge on her thread to see how long she can make £100 last and often it's weeks and she has 2 children. Although she lives much more old-style MSE than we do and wouldn't be having lunch out, buying fancy skincare or magazines.

But I do often wish I could be more like her.

At least it's money well spent rather than bring wasted :)
I find the best thing for me is ensuring I have a treats and nice things fund in my budget, just makes the whole thing easier :)

A fairly productive day! Despite the fact I felt cranky and borderline panicky all day thanks to PMT.

Have 5 hours mandatory overtime again this week. Did 1 hour today. Aiming for at least 2 tomorrow, might manage 2.5.

I managed to exercise for 30 mins (well 27) on my cross trainer this evening even though it almost killed me!! I am disgustingly unfit. Really need to work on it.

Was really disappointed this morning that I was up a pound from last week. I know it's cause of Saturday night but it's going to be tough to change it. We always have a dinner of "snacks" that OHs dad makes. So that's chicken wings, bread, rice with full fat mayo, filo prawns. There's just nothing healthy at all so I'm going to pack my bag with apples, oatcakes and yoghurt and try and not go near the unhealther stuff. I've also decided not to drink on Saturday night. I'd usually have half to three quarters of a bottle of wine, I can live without the calories (every second week anyway)

My stomach hasn't felt 100% right since my tummy bug last Tuesday week. Not sick or anything - just not entirly right. Not a great explanation I know.

Anyone know anything about Elamis facials? As in are they any good. Have my eye on 2. One is a purifying facial for oily skin, the other is a tri-enzyme facial. They're both expensive as they're offerend in a 5 star hotel spa near me so it would be good to have reviews before I waste my money.

Got the chance to have a chat to OH about the stuff that was bothering me in a roundabout way and to be honest it was mostly me blowing stuff out of porportion. That's why I tend to not say things straight away when they bug me - I like the chance to think and see if I'm in the right (which in this case I wasn't).

Think I'm going to have an early night.

    .

Never had one I expect they are lovely but I'm sort of wondering why you are feeling the need for so many facials. How often do you have them? I'm just thinking that if you are having problems with your skin the combination of jet peels, benefit products, Elemis, etc mightn't be doing your skin any good :undecided

Well done on the exercise and glad you had a chat with OH :)
I was thinking the same about the facials as Mags has said...

I REALLY don't like my skin and I guess I'm always looking for the "holy grail" of skincare!

I know it sounds like I have a lot but Ive only had 3 of the jet peels and they are safe to have 2 weeks apart. If I go for the elamis facial I won't get any more of the jet peels as I don't think they're that good.

I can totally understand that but I still think you should limit the facials to one a month. I know exfoliating is necessary but I'd be afraid that too much jet peeling, etc would exfoliate the skin so much that it would wrinkle more easily. Have you had Dermalogica or Dr Hauschka facials? If I was going for a facial they would be my first choices.

Something else that makes my skin pretty fabulous is a contraceptive pill called Yasmin which is apparently prescribed for acne sometimes. But it kind of annoys me too that it does more than any fancy skincare product.

Then there's the usual things like drinking water, eating properly.....

I need skin help too but get very paranoid. I remember once wandering through debenhams and was offered a free facial at one of the beauty counters. Two minutes in and my skin was on fire! Was all red and just made my bad skin even worse!

I don't wear make up apart from on nights out etc. That and teenage spot lotion has improved my skin greatly. Was thinking of getting some tinted moisturiser tho to even my skin tone a bit..

I've heard Yasmin is good and also doesn't have the weight gain side effect. I once asked my gp for it but wasn't licensed in Scotland at that time. Not sure why as it is available everywhere else

I used to be on Yasmin and I had to come off of it because I turned into the devil! The mood swings I had on it were unreal. Screaming angry one minute, crying the next! Yasmin is NOT an option :) on yasminelle now which is a lower dose version.

I do see both your points bout too many facials so I'll wait another few Weeks before getting anything. I have had dermatoligica (spelling completely wrong!) facials before. I usually fall asleep
