I'm home!! Have been home since Thursday morning but have been trying to get back into the swing of things! Luckily not back to work till 12th September.

New York was AMAZING. (Apart from the fact the City shut down cause of a hurricane that never appeared!)

The wedding day was perfect, apart from my hair going badly wrong. Long story short they cancelled my appointment the morning of the wedding and when she eventually turned up she had no hairspray so by the time I'd got to my make-up appointment (5 mins walk away) my hair was practically flat! But everything else was perfect. The make up was amazing, the man doing it took so much trouble and time and was perfect. Was $50 but free if you bought that much so I just bought my clarisonc (see further down) Cermony took 1 minute (literall) which thankfully wasn't long enough for me to start crying!

Was a lot of photos after but hopefully some of them will be ok. Don't have them yet. We did the last photos on the high-line which is a raised walk/park. And it was REALLY sunny and I hadn't eaten all day so when we stopped I honestly though I was going to pass out (or throw up)! Not a great ending. I sat on a step getting in people way for a while and I felt better after that!

Did most of the touristly stuff, empire state building to watch the sun go down over the city, top of the rock, museum of natural history, some of central park, metropolitean museum of art, The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, 5th avenue.

Got a tiffanys key ring. Not the one I'd originally planned on getting but a tiffanys key ring none the less. http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=23513455&mcat=148212&cid=297640&search_params=s+5-p+1-c+297640-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+-k+

Spent a fortune in Sephora. Spent $225 alone on a clarisonic. I've been wanting one for ages!http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P230615&categoryId=S3000&shouldPaginate=true

OH was VERY sick of Sephora by the end of the trip

    I'll update more later!
  • Awwwww congratulations again :)
Sounds lovely, my kinda wedding !

    Oooh fabulous update :T
I was worried about you with all the hurricane news, was fairly sure you'd be safe as the news didn't indicate that people were in too much danger. I had this image of rain pouring down and high winds with a closed subway making it impossible to get around and shop/eat/do touristy things.....

The hairdresser incident sounds awful :( Hope she didn't ruin your day. What I can't understand--why didn't she go and buy some hairspray  In New York City how could anyone be too far from a store that would sell hairsparay?

Did you drag OH round Sephora or did ye separate to shop? I've seen Clarisonic on blogs or US magazines. Have never really desired one but would love a review anyway.

What else did you buy at Sephora or Duane Read?

    Any clothes?

I like the keyring, I still use the Mulberry keyring which was a gift. It's nice to have a posh keyring for the keys to your 1st home :)

    And I'm back!

Sorry for absence - my internet stick thing vanished while i was moving so I've had no internet! Just found it again.

So we have officially moved into our house (finally), there are still a few things left to do. We need to get the gas hob connected, and the stove installed and there's some issue with water pressure in the bath taps so we're having a little pump installed to sort that out!

Sky tv and wifi internet should be sorted by this week. Have had no tv all along and I actually haven't missed it as much as I though I would. Now to be fair I have been sky plussing things on my mums telly so I will get a chance to watch things (eventually) but there's a lot I'm not bothered about missing.

I've only seen 2 episodes of the X Factor so far but hoping I'll have sky for bootcamp this weekend, otherwise I'm going to my parents Saturday night!

@Littleboots, I'm almost up to date with Dr. Who though, just last Saturdays episode to watch. The week before (with the 2 Amys) had me sobbing!

Had a VERY embarrasing start to this week. Was walking across the car park at work this morning when I managed to trip over the hem of my trousers (which i've been telling myself for a week that I must take up) and went flying! There were two girls there at the time and they came running. As I fell the thought "this is embarassing" actually went through my head! Banged my left elbow and took skin off my right hand but nothing too serious!

Need to get back into the swing of updating and posting on diaries again!
  • Congrats on the house move :)
I am loving the new new Dr Who, theres only a few episodes of this series left though...
Hope your elbow is OK, noce to hear there were people to help you xx

A few more things sorted - now have Sky tv and the gas hob is connected!

Bins were supposed to come last Monday, they didn't. Then they were supposed to come today and they didn't so have to call again tomorrow. Annoying.

Few problems getting broadband too - that might take a while longer to sort.

Doing lots of overtime at work, every little helps.

So it has been a while!

Not too much to report really. Things around the house are now pretty much sorted. Anything left to get done is decorative, but should still be done before Christmas.

The fact I'm going to be made redundent in 2 months is starting to feel more and more real. Prospects still aren't good, employment wise. Of the 70 people who have already left, only approx 5 have gotten jobs, and 2 of those people had to emigrate to get the jobs! Not something I'm in a position to do after all the blood, sweat and tears that went into the house! And DH is in college for another 1.5 years anyway.

(completyly off topic but have X factor on in the background and I'm loving Dermots entrances!)

Married life is going well!! He's FAR more domesticated than I am and has done the majority of cleaning and cooking! I'm not looking forward to January when I'll have to take over as I'll be turning into a housewife! Once niggle is when we go food shopping, I'll have done a meal planner and know what we need and he'll just throw random stuff into the trolly. His excuse is we don't need to budget just yet but I'm thinking if we do it now we'll be used to in in January but at the moment it's a fight I'm not winning!

Had a consult bout laser eye surgery last week and I think i'll go ahead with it in January. It's something I've wanted to do for years but have never had the motivation but I just think I might as well do something useful with my redundancy.

@Mags, how long are those roadworks supposed to be going on??? Had the consult in Mahon and got VERY confused with the diversions!

Promise I'll come back more often. Off to concentrate on the xfactor!
