Does anyone think there is a problem with making more than 3 egg payments a day, it seems to be how many most are making.Have got far too many 8p red onions in my cupboard now.

I did fourteen a day without any problems! Finished all mine ages ago and am just waiting for March to start to get the next fifty out of the way as quickly as possible.

I think if you do more than fifteen transactions on your Visa card in one day, it's flagged up on Lloyds system and they suspend it in case of fraud but a quick call to them will sort that out.

Daveski - yes buying a 1p photo / whatever on ebay and paying by debit card via paypal does work - a treat. I've done a few a day over the past week and nearly reached this month's total already.

    Cheers!

Can you please help me with this..

I have got an paypal account (fairly new..opened 10 days back..status 'verified')..

I am not able to purchase anything on ebay.. I tried to buy 1p ebooks but it always says 'pre-approval' required and gives me link for 'Ask to seller'..

How did you find that out. I've been doing mine at a conservative 4/5 per day, not wanting to rock the boat. As of last night I discovered you could do it with a second current account with them, so will have to speed up the next 50 for Feb and make sure they go out before about the 26th of Feb and still get included in Feb.

Phone Bank told me that a few years ago when I'd used my card several times on a particularly heavy spending spree! I was told that after fifteen transactions their system automatically froze the card assuming that there was fraudulent activity going on.

They said in future I should just phone in beforehand and let them know I was intending using the card multiple times and the kind of amounts I'd be spending and they'd make sure that the card wasn't stopped.

For the same reason, you can notify them in advance of a holiday abroad so there are no problems. (In my experience, Amex are particularly keen on you doing this).

On one of the STC threads on MSE, there's a post by Martin or one of his team saying they've checked with Lloyds and there isn't actually a particular number of transactions after which they freeze the card. I think they're really just trying to spot anything out of the ordinary to prevent fraud.

Perhaps to be on the safe side you could just do ten in one go! Better still, I would just call them tomorrow and say you'll be doing multiple transactions, it is you and not to freeze the card!

If it is frozen, it's easy enough to phone in and get the bar lifted.

I had a similiar problem, but emailed the sellers and asked to be put on their 'approved bidder lists'. Some replies said there were links on the actual listings which gave 'immediate' pre-approval and when I looked again, I found them. So, re-check the listings - quite a few have online pre-approval and after you click on the link, you just need to complete payment via Paypal.

  • Hello,
I haven't manged to read all of the posts in this thread so sorry if someone has mentioned this already. I registered for STC online a few days ago but nothing was showing on my account. I went into a branch and they admitted that they were in the dark and it was a "training issue". However, they have since managed to the STC showing on the payments and transfers screen so I think that it may now be set up. I would recommend that you should go into the branch to ensure that it is set up timeously..... time is money and all that
  • Anybody has managed to buy ebooks and got the STC worked ??

Planning to buy loads of 1p ebooks from ebay...as it sounds to be very easy...

Yes it works. You might not find it easy to find ones that don't need pre-authorisation to bid on but you will if you keep looking. Bear in mind your feedback will look decidedly dodgy to future buyers if the latest positive feedback they see is all on 1p ebooks.

Make sure the buyer accepts Paypal and that you use your debit card to fund the Paypal transaction. I got carried away and bid on one where the buyer didn't accept Paypal.

    Hi everyone, first post.
This looks good, but it looks like I've missed the boat for February as am not with LloydsTSB at all so would take a while to get me all set-up. Do you think they'll renew the offer after March for April and May for new customers? Don't expect anyone to be a mind-reader, but I noticed a couple of people on here who work for them.
Would appreciate what you think, should I go for just March or wait for it to come round again?
    Thanks,
    Muff
