  • Hello All

I bought a replacement projector lamp from a dealer which failed within a few hours of fitting. I've sorted a refund with the supplier, however when the lamp burst it caused some damage to the projector which will now need to be sent for repair.

Is the supplier of the faulty lamp liable for the repair?

    Many Thanks
  • HI, new question. Bought a ring in Sept 2014 from high street jewellers. I have the receipt. Worn about 20 times. I am office worker so ring not subject to rough handling. The stone came out and I cannot find it. Can I argue that the setting must not have been satisfactory and that any reasonable person would expect a stone to remain in place? I would like the shop to replace the stone free of charge. It wont be a huge cost to them as the ring itself was only £90. Hope you can offer guidance. Thanks

OK over 6 months old hence the onus is not on the retailer to prove it wasn't faulty on supply.

£90 is frankly peanuts for a gemstone ring - is it even a real gem?

I think all you can do is appeal to their goodwill - I would write a letter to them stating the facts and asking for their comments and advice.

I don't believe you would win a legal case if you took it that far.

    You've got no chance.

It's over a year old, and clearly did stay in place the first 19 times you wore it.

Something happened to it to make it break and the stone to fall out. It didn't happen all by itself, it lasted 19 wears over the year.

It might well be worth checking out the guarantee that came with the purchase it may well be longer than a year.
  • Bought chromebook from pc world/Currys in feb this year, with 1 warranty/guarantee, started playing up with certain keys not working, so took back to the shop, they said they had stopped selling this make/model as it was a fault and that they were all being recalled.

they offered to replace with another 1 of the 2 choices they have. Neither suit me, eg make, model, size and colour.

Can I insist on my money back?

If they can't repair or replace then they must offer a refund but this refund doesn't have to be the full price that you paid.
This is because you have had about 9 months use from the Chromebook and they are entitled to make a deduction for this.
  • They are not going to try and repair as it is a common fault and recalling them all. So they cant replace like for like, they can only offer either a smaller or larger screen size one. which is not what i am looking for. I also took out their extra insurance for £4.50 a month.

So I can insist on my money back, then they take 9 months use off the amount i paid?

    No you can't.

    Duplicate post.
  • I ordered a cooker on 23.10.15 and was given an original delivery date of 2.11.15, this was then cancelled as apparently the stock came in damaged. I was then given another delivery date for 13.11.15 in which argos cancelled again saying that the driver was over his driving hours and was not able to deliver my order. I was then given another date for 15.11.15 in which yet again argos cancelled saying that they had a technical problem and no deliveries would be delivered. I was given another date and yet again they cancelled. I am so frustrated with the situation. I have asked for a refund on 20.11.15 and was told this would take 3 working days, then 5 days, then 7 days. It has now been 11 days in total and 7 working days with no refund of £249.99. What are my rights?
    Thank You.
