It was World of Camping and the goods are despatched from Arleigh International (Unable to post links)

    These guys?

    https://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/

If so they appear to be UK so the advice you've been given so far (by both lilelvis and myself) stands. If they try telling you that you don't have the right to cancel because it was shipped from their supplier, ask them what section of the CCRs that is covered by (there isn't one, but I'd be interested in their answer).

Also, did they provide the necessary information in a durable medium? Websites are not durable, emails are but only if the information is in the email itself and isn't just a link to their website.

  • I bought a bitcoin mining motherboard from Scan Computers last October 31st on paypal credit. The board died last week and I've been able to RMA the board to them, though they are now claiming that there are damaged pins on the CPU socket, which was ot the faultwith the board. I have worked with and built a lot of PC's, which would power up even without a CPU installed, this board wont do anything. They claim because I have damaged the pins (not the case) that they cant etst the board and are offering to pay for the cost of repair to the cpu socket, however want me to sign a form which basically says that if the repair fails that I wont have any recourse to claim a replacement, which I have declined to sign, "As such Scan Computers cannot take any further direct action in providing a replacement or repaired unit at this time. Normal procedures would leave us with no alternative but to return your goods and take no further action.

However, as a company with a high priority in Customer Service it has been agreed with a line manager to return the item directly to the relevant manufacturer / supplier on your behalf.

In doing so we have to make clear this is NOT an acceptance of fault or guarantee that we will be successful in obtaining a replacement or repaired unit for you, we will try our best for you, acting above and beyond our normal operating procedures, we will do this as quickly and as swiftly as we possible can, however, no timeframe can be guaranteed.

As such we need you to sign the agreement form below, which acts as your acceptance to this action."

I emailed them to tell them that the pins were not damaged when it was sent back and that this board has been operating without fault since purchase. Their response was "it's abit hard to say to be honest how it may of occured to be honest. As it it may of been done when you first installed the CPU and it could be a pin that doesn't effect functionality at all, or it could of been done during removal of the CPU. Regardless of that we unable to test the item due to the damage in the socket to confirm a fault." where do I go from here? In my experience with PC's a motherboard should still show signs of life (ie fans running) even without a CPU or RAM installed, this would not do anything, having tried 3 dfferent power supplies and all the checks they asked me to do before returning. Or do I just sign the form and hope they can get it repaired?

Where is loss of enjoyment of goods and services when there are unreasonable delays covered in legislation? Any pointers appreciated.

There isn't, loss of enjoyment is taken on a case by case basis. Take it to court and take your chances.

Loss of enjoyment is one of the harder things to prove, GL.

Thanks, thought it wasn’t. So ask and wait for a refusal.

Does that make a difference? I am a consumer and was using it to make a little extra cash to pay down debts.

Yes. If bought as a business you have no 'consumer' rights as you are not a consumer.
  • Thanks for the info. Still doesn't answer my question though.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but:

    1) If you purchased it to use it for bitmining then you are not a consumer, you are a business (and you'll have much bigger issues to worry about if you haven't declared it to HMRC and paid tax on it).

    2) They aren't testing to see if it powers on, they want to know why it isn't powering on. Even if consumer rights did apply, as its over 6 months from purchase there is no assumption that any lack of conformity is inherent, it would be for you to prove it was.
