  • Hirens? No it just boots up itself. Gonna try BIOS thing you suggested now.
  • Doing that chamges first boot device to my external HD and second boot device to CD/DVD and third boot device to USB generic-compact

Now what you need me to try?

Look at the SATA options again.
  • Still the same.

Revert to Optimised Defaults....and check again.

Have you checked to see if eRecovery is working under F10?
  • Optimised defaults doesn't change anything. The boot order is still the same. Should I change it back to cd first and take the external out of it? Also when would I press F10?

(And it will have to be bed soon)

Wasn't looking at the Boot order, but the possibility to toggle AHCI/RAID/IDE mode.

Rather than spending days trying to get past this problem, we should look at the caddy/reinstall, but we need to know whether it will be possible to run a clean install of Vista using eRecovery.

    Instructions here
  • Right. Well it doesn't seem to want to let me change the RAID settings for the HD at all. So if we operate on that assumption that we can't do that what happens? Open the tower and take the harddrive out? Won't it infect whatever I plug it into?

Not if you have a decent anti-malware program installed. :)
