Or Georgy Porgey could stay as chancellor, do I win for the most ridiculous?

At least he does seem to acknowledge that there is a problem.

Unlike GB in his time as chancellor.

I agree with you it is very wrong to trash a British representative who could be in a very influential position, especially when he may need a loan after GDP takes tumble

He could do it interest free as he oversaw the current deficit. I think as a member state our politicians should stand up if they do not think he is suitable. We are contributors.

To quote MRD 'well he would, wouldn't he?'

The IMF have handed plenty of dosh over the past couple of years due to the worst world recession in many a decade, funnily enough none to GB.

So given Strauss Kahn is swanning off to be French president who would make a good IMF head? John Major? Lula Da Silva? Kevin Rudd? Junichiro Koizumi? Who are the main runners - is there a book open somewhere?
    I think....

Mr Cameron told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "I haven't spent a huge amount of time thinking about this. It does seem to me that if you have someone who didn't think we had a debt problem in the UK... they might not be the best person to [run the IMF]".

Mr Cameron also said: "I certainly don't want a washed-up politician from another country. It's important that the IMF is led by someone extraordinarily competent."
About as sensible as as having Neil Kinnock as an E.C. Commissioner
or A. Blair as a "Peace Envoy" in the Middle East.

Yes, that is why I said we are a contributor. (I never said they had handed over to GB you said they may need to, not me??)
So that is why we would want a head we thought would be good and not wasteful. (as it costs us money)
Agreeing to having GB in on the off chance we may need a bail out (on debt he accrued, 2002-2007 was not a World Recession but the deficit was growing) is rather an odd stance IMHO.
We have more chance of contributing more than being bailed out so we need a strong head of the IMF and a good negotiator with good foresight.

Can you honestly say that man is GB?
