This is the data registration entry for Tesco.
As far as I can see there is nothing on there about retaining card details.

Think I would be quoting this:
Data Protection Act 1998, Schedule 1, Part 1, para2:-
Personal data shall be obtained only for one or more specified and lawful purposes, and shall not be further processed in any manner incompatible with that purpose or those purposes.
Although I do wonder if it is indeed Personal Data as there isn't anything personal on it, just 4 little numbers?
That was my point it isn't personal data he showed me that he could identify from my receipt that I had used vouchers 3 times before by matching my 4 end digits to my current receipt - there was nothing on the receipt that gave away who I was name etc. I was pointing this out since it happened to me and now I use cash. I may have been unlucky in that the manager at the store is very anti dtd and perhaps has few vouchers processed. It was a store that has been mentioned before on here for being very picky and making the rules up as they go along so I have sent a complaint to the head office and hope others do as well.0 -
I purchased 2 of the Finest Smoked Salmon today and instead of being 2 for £10.00 as on the sel they just went through as £3.69 each. Luckily I had a Dentyl mouthwash in my next shop so was able to make up the difference to spend the voucher. Just a note to anyone hoping to get extra DTD on this one.0

Hope you have strong enamel on your teeth, I bought the Dentyl mouthwash and it nearly melted my teeth!! Good job it was free otherwise I would have been upset :rotfl:0 -
for the first time today- 2 different shops and both kept the original receipt. I wasn't too bothered about this. Also both knew what to do- which is also unusual!
I didn't submit anything to the ss today as all my buys yesterday are no longer valid today.
Also noticed 1lt Bacardi not on Tescos website. Perhaps they are about to change it?weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0 -

It is personal data, your card number is your personal data, and he used it in a manner for which he is not authorised, whether he could see it on the receipt or not.
He looked at the personal data which is shown on the receipt, then looked at another receipt to look for that specified piece of personal data in order to trace your shopping history. He's not allowed to use that information for that purpose.
That is not the reason you provided that personal data. You provided it as a means of payment. The only reason the last 4 digits are on the receipt is for your own records.0 -
