  • Damn, slipped up on the Medley choc/biscuit bars. They had very little in the way of Easter chocolate and I had planned to get a treasure egg or two so not being able to threw me off. I knew Medleys were on the list, but didn't realise I had to buy two packs! Annoying! Oh well.
  • Hi, i was just wondering if anyone has had problems spending vouchers that have the missing '0' and '1' on the bottom of the printed voucher? I have done a couple of shops but havent spent any vouchers yet. Also, the time on one of mine is 2 hours out - is this likely to cause problems? (unsure why this happened as ive used the same computer as the others and they are fine).

Got told about this the other day. Its brilliant. Massive thanks to the people doing the spreadsheet! :T

I know someone has said to me that the Potteries stores are fine but I had a run in this morning with the till supervisor at TV.

This was a blonde girl with her hair in a ponytail. She announced that my voucher could nto be accepted for 2 reasons. One it had to be cut around the dotted lines - OK I admit that one, I had been slack, not cut the voucher out properly but where does it say this in the rules and regs?

Even more oddly she said that the terms and conditions on the voucher had to be numbered or the voucher was not acceptable

Again where does it say this??? And none of the vouchers I've seen have been numbered? The only thing I can think of is that she got confused with the numbers on the bottom.
None of my vouchers have the Terms of use numbered. When I tried to use the first one 2 weeks ago it was refused. They said that they had been told by head office to reject any that were not numbered. I emailed customer services who phoned me up and said they had contacted the store and it had been sorted.
Back I go a couple of days later to find that they were still rejecting vouchers without numbered terms of use! I email customer services who phone me again to say that the store were mistaken and that the voucher was valid. This time I insisted on an email to that effect which I took with me. It still took a visit the the customer services desk where they went looking for the check out manager to get my voucher redeemed.
I have just received another voucher today and guess what, no numbers! I see a fun visit to Tesco ahead of me next week!

One thing that has occurred to me today is how different I view the more mature lady SA's (aka trouts) to how a lot of other people seem to view them. I actually tend to target them for my DTD shopping, since I can make small talk with them, and they're not wondering whether I am trying to pick them up!

Maybe I have just been lucky, but I have never had a problem - I was served by a lovely SA today by the name of Jan (I always scan the name badge before being served, so I can address them by name - it makes it so much more personable) and while she was putting through the usual suspects (toothbrush, razor) :D I was chatting away to her as to whether she had anything planned for Easter, when she was getting time off, whether she was getting out at all to enjoy the weather - in other words, all the typical fluff that you don't really give two hoots about (in fact, I can't even remember what she said now!)

Here's the thing - as she was a more mature member of staff, I would guess that it is less common for her to have someone chat to her in the fashion. Believe me, I'm not charming them (much!) - I'm 40, short, bald, and unnecessarily ugly, so it's not as if they are putty in my hands. But, and perhaps it's just me, I have found that if you are polite and courteous, and give them a smile, then it seems to work wonders.

Like I said, you can't get away with that so much with a youngster, as life experience hasn't really given them yet the small talk skills (so offense intended to those who are in their teens and can talk the hind legs off a donkey, of course!)

    Just an observation ....

I always smile and say hello to every till assistant, and if they chat then I chat back.

The reason I personally would rather go to a till with a younger male assistant is I find they are less likely to call a supervisor. I think maybe some of the older females are less confident, or maybe less likely to take a risk. Either than or men just dont like asking for help.... or directions!

Anyway ive never yet had a male SA call a supervisor, but several females over 30 have.

    Wasn't the 21p wine a mistake?

I picked up a Hardys Semillon Chardonnay today and it was £6.99 not £7.**. It still matches with £4.00 at Asda but makes it more than 21p DTD??

Yes - I found the same. Shelf price was 7.49 but receipt says £6.99

Haha....I'm just two years behind you, but of course that couple of years has made all the difference. Once they've brought this new legislation in, I won't be able to claim my pension until I'm 65.:( I've got all my years in too.:(:(

I know , my friend was really gutted, she is 2 years younger than me and wont get hers till almost 65. Like you she has all her years in aswell. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :(

Me too, never had a problem. The apricot ones work too but there's less DTD on them.

Same at two big stores I went to re the Lamb Rack and Beef, looks suspiciously like Mr T is taking them off the shelves.
Funnily enough they've only just started appearing in my stores! I got a beef yesterday and another today and thought people must have got bored and left them - but perhaps supply is regional so we take it in turns? I'm in the NW if it helps!
