Tesco/Asda Pricechecker Thread - part 5

Honestly it appears to be a glitch. If they were tracking cookies/IP etc then A LOT of people would have these emails.
Yikes... Just had a look at my browser cookies - T use Unique Visitor Identification cookies as well as quite sophisticated UTM (Urchin Traffic Monitoring) ones for the seperate tescopricecheck.com site.
If you use the same web browser on the same computer to access several vouchers (without clearing-out all cookies before and in-between each), T's analytics know all too well that all those different email addresses are in fact the same person.
They've just decided not to exploit this info, yet (perhaps they're piloting it with a few select DTDers?). Don't underestimate that they're using very powerful cookie-based tracking and know a lot more about us than we know about them!0 -
guess your opinion on things changed then..
no it didn't, I don't reprint vouchers, I use the ones that I get from my shop... If they cap the vouchers but count the full amount then I still want my voucher! And for people who have only done one or two shops and got it blocked it's totally unfair!0 -

I also got double emails on two of my vouchers (0ne was a wombled one and nothing on it) but my other was a £20 one.Has anyone managed to buy the pantene protect & volume using the vouchers shown on the s/s?
I used some the other day but stupidly got the protect & smooth by accident and when I went to get protect & volume with some other coupons they wouldn't scan & if you look carefully (which SA did) it does say only for the smooth version.
Wasn't sure if this should be changed on s/s but didn't want to send in an amendment if it is actually a useful coupon
yes, this happened to OH (armed with a very precise list) and he didn't know what to do so bought the coupons home! doh!Love, through the trees, past the sky, beyond the northern lights; and I won't let go. May your soul and spirt fly sweetheart x

Hiya
I know this is off topic (but this is the chat thread). Anyway I just thought I'd post this link to another grabbit which might be useful for those who used their big vouchers for a kindle but haven't managed to drag themselves out of this thread to look at other grabbits recently

If I was Mr T tasked with looking into it, I would have a report showing me all claims listed by store by day with the highest value of DTD at the top.
There is only a relatively small hard core of people maximising the benefit, therefore, if you looked at the pattern manually, by store by day, you might see a pattern of transactions/shopping taking place with email addresses in some form of pattern. e.g if your normal one was john.smith@hotmail, and then you used smith.john@hotmail instead a manual scan would easily show this and you would then group all the claims by that person.
You could then look at other stores where any of the email addresses were used and see what patterns emerge, all the while building up a balck list of email addresses to give the over the limit to.
I'm glad you're not tasked with looking into it then - how often have you tried to sign up for a website using a username which is partly or wholly your own name only to find it has already been taken - I think that assuming these people are the same with no accompanying evidence of any kind would be very risky for Ts"You've got to cut your cloth to suit your wassname" Terry (my Dad), 1944-present0
