Again, had one of the receipts where the time shows as 12 hours previous, and missed a digit off one of the last segments, so she called the supervisor (she had been told off for accepting a similar one the previous day).
The supervisor takes the receipt for 'investigation' and then comes back to tell me that not only would they not honor the voucher, but that i was being investigated for fraud and they were calling the police, as there was something suspicious going on!!!! (my previous receipt had a £15 voucher redeemed on a £22 spend for which i had a £19 voucher).
I asked on what grounds were the police being called, and a little put out i played it calmly, arguing all i did was put a number into a website, and then it printed off this voucher. I did another shop, entered the number again and got another voucher. She advised it would probably be better if i left as basically it looked like money was being 'printed'!
Trying to stay calm (and not angry) I informed her i was hardly likely to leave when i was being accused of fraud, that i was being reported to the police, when my receipt had been confiscated and that i was being investigated, and wanted to speak to the manager (all by the front tills!).
She went away again, and this time came back all smiles, saying that the mistake was their end, not my fault and that they would honour the voucher, and if she was me she would go back to the site and get as much out of it as possible!!
Morale of the story.... it looks like 'some' supervisors/managers are getting suspicious of all these vouchers coming through, and probably being fed next to no information/training from head office. If you are playing by the rules and terms of the fair use policy, you will have nothing to worry about. For those who are... making the most of any loopholes, be prepared for whatever tesco decide to do next!
I'm really sorry to hear you had a traumatic experience.
As far as Tesco are concerened, though, all this talk of 'Fraud' & 'Police' being called is frankly insane!!!
Does anyone really think the Police would be remotely interested in Tesco Customer's Shopping habits?
Plus how would it look on the next edition of 'Watchdog' for Tesco to be marching its customers off to the Police Station for participating in a Sales Promotion? - they'd be crucified in PR terms!
You are NOT a Shoplifter & if you get treated like one, you should be straight onto HO making a formal complaint! Essentially, Tesco or their Marketing Agency have dreamed up a Sales Promotion that has been ill-thought through & is arguably open to exploitation (BUT ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT ACTUALLY CHEAPER THAN ASDA - the premise of which underpins the whole concept of the Promotion).
The fact that it is being participated in very enthusiastically by some customers is hardly our fault - we didn't create it!
If they treat customers in the way you have described - not only have they proved they are NOT cheaper than Asda, but also that their Customer Service is appalling - & the next time they mention 'Fraud & 'Police' - you should not hesitate in telling them so! It's Bonkers!!!0 -

Also a BIG THANK YOU to the person that posted yesterday about changing one minute on the receipt if you got the "over the limit" email!!! Sorry, but can't remember who it wasI managed to get my voucher!
I just put one minute back from whats on receipt and also printed the list just before the voucher to show there are the right items on it
I'm sure it will be fine, my store doesn't look at receipts at all and I feel that I actually "deserve" my coupon because the vouchers are capped but they take the full dtd amount into account when talking about limit!
Naughty mr T I got my vocher now!:p
And of course BIG THANKS to the SS team. It's great what you do for everyone! :T (even if I personally don't use the ss as I am up to date with the thread and that's enough for me to have all products and prices in my head :rotfl:)
off to make my shopping list(s)
oh, and my voucher for the kids toothbrush still not there but I'll reenter as many times as I have to lol0 -
Brought saturday, voucher confirmed 17/04
Thanks - I think it might be store-specific, though. That is exactly the one I purchased yesterday - the SEL said £12, but it scanned at £3
It came back today as N/A.
I think it's fine in some stores & not in others - need to scan yourself in-store, if they have one of those 'thingies'!0 -
Hope this may help you out..
When ive decided what im going to buy with my DTD voucher, i log into Asda and add the items to my basket.
I then access Asda site via my phone, which helps walking round Tesco to ensure i pick up the correct items that i previously added to my Asda basket.0 -
