Baby teething at 13 weeks!!! Help

Hi my DD 13weeks has been grizzly all week, she hasn't had a temp but red cheeks and dribbling for England!!! I told my Health Visitor she was teething and her answer was she is too young to be teething. Which I know its usual about 6 months.

Anyway she was really bad tonight, I have been checking the front teeth and there to my suprise is a big white Molar tooth at the side!!!! (not cut yet)

What can I do to help with the pain? Have some Bongela in but says not to give to babies under 4 months. Gave Calpol for the first time and dribbled out eveywhere!! Also have a soother which I have put in the fridge but its too big to fit at the back of her mouth!

I hate her being in such pain.
Any surggestions please?

Some HVs can talk nonsense!!! Some babies are born with teeth, so how can 13 weeks be impossible for teething? Yes it's early, but you should be supported, not dismissed.

Can you get hold of a pipette for giving Calpol? We got one from the chemist when DD1 had to have antibiotics at a similar age, and most of it seemed to go down ok. I would ask the Pharmacist about Bonjela too. Sometimes they put a limit on products to dissuade people from using them, rather than because they are actually dangerous, but I would definitely check to be sure.

I remember my girls being grizzly, but I think the things they liked most was things to chew on, like cool teething rings. Don't put them in the freezer, but the fridge, and give lots of cuddles. I hope your DD settles down soon.

I use Ashton and Parsons teething powders (I've had two children) and swear by them. They are about £2.35 for 20 powders.

Here is a pic so you know what to look for

Under 6 months you can give 1/2 powder as required.

In my experience they work my better than any other teething product and relieve grouchiness & allow sleep immediately.

I always use a spoon to administer.

Your Health Vistor is talking out of her bum hole by the way! Some babies are even born with teeth!

Edited to say: The powders also help with tummy upsets caused by teething.

Totally agree with Mrcow, Ashton and Parsons are a godsend.

My lo had 4 teeth by the time she was 12 weeks, so theres no way that 13 weeks is too early!

You may have to go to the chemist to get them, but most will stock them.

I have heard alot of people saying ashtons and parsons is good, fortunately spud didnt suffer from teethng, he just wanted to chew EVERYTHING, i used to let him bite on my fingers sometimes.

As for health visitors they dont always know best, when ds was born i asked if his eyes would stay blue, they were bright blue, and i was quite shocked as i'm mixed raced so didnt expect him to come out with blonde hair and blue eyes, anyways i was told that as my mum didnt have blue eyes he wouldnt, what a load of tripe! His eyes are still peircing blue 2 and a half years on!

When mine were little, I had some teething dummies. Instead of a regular teat to suck on, they had a hard flat ribbed teat for biting on. My children liked them better than the liquid filled teething rings.

I can't remember who made them, but if you look around the dummies in Boots etc., you should find them.
Here I go again on my own....
