Hi

Please can anybody tell me of any scrapyards in Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire that allow you to wander around and get a part for your car yourself??

I just need a plastic drive wheel for the electric window on an X Reg
Clio Grande. I've been to our local scapyard for the last 3wks, but
no luck so far :o

I've checked on internet and everybody seems to want to sell the
whole kit and kaboodle, but its only the plastic wheel I need

So can anybody out there help me as to where the great wander
around freely scrapyard are in my area.

Thanks in advance :D

the problem you have is you render the window unit unsellable without that part.
thats why they want to sell it as a whole

problem is the health and safety brigade stop you roaming around the scrappy as its deemed dangerous, rules made up by yoghurt knitters who have never needed to buy second hand in their lives.

Thanks for your comments Custardy, DCFC79 and paddedjohn. A used unit costs approx £35-45. Might not seem much to some, but I don't have any spare cash. If I did then I'd happily freecycle the rest of the bits - I'm just not in a position to do that.

Kilty - you are so lucky. Are you anywhere near my neck of the woods??

I wont give up. I will keep looking. Its just frustrating!!

As already mentioned, only an idiot would sell you one part of a window regulator.

You have one choice, buy the whole thing or live with a broken wondow.

I don't think this is the kind of part that you could even get from the manufacturer of the regulator.

Some things are not made to be rebuilt unfortunately.

    Furbers is a traditional scrappie.

I often go there to stock up on stuff. They make their prices up too.

It's a a pain to find if you dont know the area though.

If in your search for a scrapyard you come across one that has a 2009-on Kia Picanto, let me know
