    Well said skintlady

I get sick of hearing the 'ooh it's an argument between the PWC and NRP' line....of course it bloody is!!

Why is it deemed acceptable to some people that a parent walks out of a childs life and doesn't pay? And if the PWC has the gall to seek the legal right for financial contribution they are either labelled money grabber or bitter? Or told to work more to increase the shortfall...why the bloody hell should they have to? Time is precious enough with your kids without having even more of it away 'to make up the shortfall'.

When babies get dumped in doorways et al there is huge public interest, cute photos are in the press and the police are pleading with the Mum to get in touch...people shake their head and wonder how a Mum could abandon a baby.....yet when a Father does it (and it is the Dad in the large majority), then the Mum is just expected to batten down the hatches and get on with it and don't dare ask more than once for child support.

Personal battle? You're damn right it is...it's one thing to walk out a relationship but another to walk out a relationship (be that financial, emotional, physical or all 3) with a child.
  • Wow what a rant! forget to take your tablets Loopy Girl?

Its not men who dump babies in doorways, they can make good investments too if you go by the following equation:

    1 Man + 1 Woman minus 1 condom + the CSA = a free meal ticket.

But why is it assume that a child with separated parents have more a right to get what she deserves from the nrp than a child whose parents are still together? There are thousands of children whose parents live together and wear clothes that are too small because their parents choose to spend all their money at the pub when grands parents babysit? There is no csa for these children. Every child is deservy of being looked after and loved by both parents, but that doesn't mean that they have a right beyond that of not being abused.

I actually have to agree with this argument. I know a couple close to me who plead poverty constantly regarding everyday bills. They have 2 children, one is 10 and one is 2. The children's clothes are always too small, or dirty. Yet despite how skint they constantly say they are, they always have money to go out drinking (and I mean drinking!!!), to concerts & gigs & festivals, and numerous foreign holidays (without the children). They wear designer clothes themselves, one of them smokes, and they have all the latest gadgets in the house. I'm sure they're not an isolated case either. Oh, and they have a good income (high rate tax payer) so it's not because they're on low pay or benefits. I can't get my head round it myself.

Are you a father who wont pay by any chance?
My child was planned, within a marriage, never did i think i would NEED a free meal ticket, or need to ask my husband to help support his child (please notice i say HELP as i support my children every day unlike him). And how is 20 or 30 quid a week a meal ticket??? You sound ALOT more bitter than loopygirl does. If its such a good meal ticket then why doesnt my husband want the child full time to claim all the riches from me??

Of course they have the same right, but they arent my children. My main concern is giving my child what she needs and what she deserves. Obviously its very sad that the children you speak of live like that and i completely agree with what you are saying about them but that doesnt make it any less important that our kids get what they need.
