Well, just fed the lot - Chloe in my bedroom.

My other 4 wander in more and more often to see THAT STRANGE CAT.

Had a nap in the afternoon, Chloe woke me up headbutting as she does and purring in my ear - got up, opened the door, Zara run in all happy pup tail wagging ears down straight to Chloe - while Chloe was on the bed she was at Zara's face level so Zara got smacked over the nose a few times... and my silly sopy dog was still wagging her tail happy that she got ANY attention from her prospective new friend Chloe...LOL

    - she looks like a ferret rather than a cat ....
I am just about to vacuum the flat - will only sweep my room, do not want to scare her, then will lock her in there and vacuum the rest of the flat. My other 4 cats and dog are not bothered but she gets frightened of noises.
Ferret, you say - I am thinking she may be part squirrel. Looks very sweet, anyway.

I use a large window squeegee with a dustpan on both carpet and hard flooring.
It's actually very effective - better than a brush.
(Usually hoover after - but not always. Hoover bags last much longer - just picking up dust.)
Try different directions on carpet to see what suits your pile - it should be easy.

If you don't already have one, might pick one up cheap anywhere - even a pound shop.

This looks like one of mine: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Elliott-El4430-Window-Squeegee-30cm/dp/B0017RNXR2/ref=sr_1_3?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1304635307&sr=1-3

Oh thanks that may be an idea... :)

I do nto have carpets anywhere - laminate and tiles.

But sweeping on laminate/tiles with a large long haired dog and 5 cats is.... well, never ending as all fur flies all over the place......

I got bagless hoover... with plastic container that I just empty - absolutely hate those where one has to completely change the bag ;)

    I got bagless hoover...

I have a long haired fluffy cat that acts as a swiffer (http://www.ciao.co.uk/Reviews/Swiffer__72242) outdoors and then deposits throughout the house.
My rabbit has short silky hair which refuses to submit to any comb/brush - even the best rubber ones.
Her white hair floats in the air .. in my hair .. in my throat - never notice the black hair.
When I pick her up I am covered with rabbit hairs - sometimes have to squeegee myself.

Even when the floor looks okay, I am surprised by how much the squeegee collects.
It scoops the fur up (seems to hold it together) rather than flicking it everywhere, which I found when I used a brush. Also you then have the faff of cleaning the fluff out of the brush.

Since you don't have carpets you can easily get away with a cheap one - but it is better to have a long one (30cms/12ins).
Then it really is a quick sweep.

I also use grip liner to defluff myself and soft furnishings. I bought this:http://www.stacksandstacks.com/shelf-liner-grip-it in Wilkinson's and the cheaper stuff with bigger mesh on eBay:http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=Grip+Liner+Non+Slip+Steady
(I have very recently seen the same in Asda - cheaper.)
They both work well for my purposes (eg stop things sliding on trays) but I would not recommend them to stop rugs slipping - I think they simply act as a non-slip mat.

It is ages since I last bought a hoover - bagless was very new, and exactly what I wanted. I couldn't find one - every sales person just looked at me like I was barmy.

The grip liner is also excellent for opening jars - and stops a celebration cake getting damaged en route.
    I love the stuff.

Oooh she's so beautiful! Kind of like my Harley, as he's fluffy as anything and is very loooooooong too :D

With regards to the microchip query, can you see if the vets will scan her and get the chip number? Then you can ring the company and change the info. I've just moved house but can't find any paperwork for my two (they were chipped a good few years ago now), so I rang my vets to see if they had the numbers on file (they don't as they changed computer systems a while back and some info was lost) but the lady said if I bring them in then they can scan them and get the chip number that way.

I hope your lot all settle down soon! Seems like they're getting there! I feel sorry for poor Zara though!

Thanks - I can get the chip number but the chip company will not change it for me - HE has to call them grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Plus, I have no money to pay for that change anyway so have to wait for him to do that :(

Chloe is not going to go out for a while though so hopefully he can sort this out

    Grrrr men!!

I'm with you on the no money thing too! I don't understand why these companies charge to change your details, no other company or bank or doctor or anywhere else you may need to occasionally change your details charge. I don't get what they do other than change info on a database so why it costs £15 or however much to do it is beyond me :(

Be who you are, say what you feel, those who mind don't matter, those who matter don't mind.
They say that talking to yourself is a sign of mental illness. So I talk to the cats instead.
