I've tried the olay one and the soap n glory one, the olay one was effective but made my foundation quite a bit paler where the soap n glory one is clearer so no colour change, your supposed to apply to wrinkled areas only, let it dry and then apply make up (or not) but for me this doesn't really make a difference and I find the product especially the soap n glory one rather greasy feeling, its silicone based, and if you use too much (very tempting) it just flakes off. When you mix with foundation (I find it best with quite a matte product) it evens out your whole face and sets without any greasiness or residue and the effect lasts the whole day, I was with family I hadn't seen for a while yesterday and got asked if I had work done (I haven't) purely because of this trick, as shallow as I am this made me very happy:rotfl:
I think its a case of experimenting and finding what works for you:)
I bought some of this lately and haven't really been sure how to use it. Can I ask what proportion you mix with your foundation - eg 50/50, 60/40 in favour of foundation etc...0 -
I'm with the exercise thing, google Eva Fraser! I do her stuff whenever I can to keep the saggy look at bay!0

Yesterday I did roughly 60/40 in favour of foundation, 70/30 works well too, I'm using Revlon Colourstay with the Soap n Glory filler and a touch of Natural Collection translucent pressed powder when its dried, at first it looks very shiny and watery but give it at least 5 mins and it settles/dries beautifully, I don't concentrate on any area in particular just apply as I would normal foundation and I'm quite generous;) I really like this method because as well as giving a better overall appearance foundation doesn't seem to settle in fine lines hope it goes well for you:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
thanks all.
think i will start with oils/massage and excercises.(maybe name my 50p tin"facelift fund"while i'm at it)
i loved the line "repeat until fed up" for the excercise-just about sums up my will power!
enjoy your weekend,and keep smiling:)0 -
I'm 40, don't think I have any wrinkles but I do feel the lower half of my face is a bit saggy. I quite like Olay's Regenerist 3 point super serum. I know it's only a temporary effect and quite expensive, but it does make me feel a bit better. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0

Carrying a few extra pounds as you age actually plumps out the skin as well.
Having heard the "at a certain age - one has to choose between face and figure" (ie they cant both be at their best).
I think I had better be a few lbs heavier than when I was younger to keep the face looking halfway presentable - how much higher a weight do you think one should be?
I am hazarding a guess that maybe half a stone heavier than the usual weight when younger would be enough to "do the trick" (ie keep the face a bit plumped-out) without feeling fat further downwards???? How much extra do peeps feel they need to allow themselves to weigh to deal with the "drawn face" of latter years with the minimum of weight gain going elsewhere (ie where it isnt wanted)?0 -
Maybe we could rename this thread '40+ and trying to keep our looks'
Since i have you all here anywayhow are you all doing on the moisturiser front? I seem to need something richer but I have sensitive skin and have to be careful about using creams that are too scented etc. At the minute I'm using nivea night cream which is fine but I can't seem to find a decent day cream. Have been using elizabeth arden in the daytime but it's not rich enough. But the night cream is too rich for daytime and I can't put makeup on over it. I've also been using Clinique cityblock spf 40 because I'm worried about having enough sunscreen but it's also really drying and I can see makeup settling in the wrinkles!
Sorry this has turned into a bit of a whingebut anyone got any ideas for daycream that is rich but sinks in....and that I can put the clinique stuff over??

I guess people need to say what they are prepared to pay?
Sun block so worthwhile and I would like to use one this summer, I dont mind the price if its a good one- but my face also a bit dry so maybe not the clinique one - any other ideas anyone?0 -

Its very difficult isn't it? The Loreal one for 40+ seems ok but I feel I could do better and like you I have sensitive skin, I found an excellent one but delivery is very very difficult (only available online) so I'm going to have a go at making my own in the interest of :money:and my sanity, Nuxe are supposed to be very good but I find the price prohibitive and can never find any offers:( not even a sample, I'll be watching with interest for any suggestions:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0
