I remember that moment well at the same age too.....and it was a sudden realisation when I looked in the mirror one night when I was getting ready to go out  and said to my friend my face has dropped! Actually, I remember when it happened to my mum too.....she started to look a bit different I couldn't work out what it was at the time, but now I understand. It definitely just HAPPENS, I think.

Honestly, the most cheapest and most effective solution for lifting everything up again is to smile broadly like a maniac as much as possible, like this :D

Nothing is worse than catching sight of yourself in a shop window or mirror, when you're unawares..."who is that miserable woman...? Oh! it's me!" A good tip just before having a photo taken is to raise your eyebrows as high as possible for a few seconds, let go then quickly have the photo taken. Your brow will stay lifted for a few seconds longer haha!!

A good firming cream helps with loss of tone. I like Boots P&P, but don't find any benefits from the serum personally (although I know others do!)

I am the same age as you and know exactly how you feel. I tried a course of CACI treatments but could not see any difference, after reading some of the threads on here I bought a Clarisonic and have to say I notice a bit of a difference in the tone of my skin and it also looks a bit less tired.

    facelift?
    injectables?
Nothing else will make much difference and we can't buy good bone structure unfortunately-my mum never got that dropped look even in her nineties.

I am in my sixties and do know EXACTLY what you mean! I don't really have any wrinkles but I do have all the big creases now.

some people swear by facial exercises and there are experts who will teach you these - I guess they could make a difference done properly and consistently

there is a new face cream which is supposed to make a difference but its about £250 its called Shinso Essence if you want to look it up on the web.

Apparently beauticians say they can tell women who use creme de mer but I dont think that would help with the dropped look and again v expensive - none of all this is moneysaving! If I could be bothered and I was your age I would try the exercises but only if taught them properly and you were prepared to put time in each day.

Its no good is it? I'm the same age as you and whilst I haven't had the drop yet I can see a difference in firmness especially around the jaw line, I do have good genes though so am hoping for a bit of help from mother nature;) Creams help temporarily, I'm using up stocks of Loreal Revitalift atm its quite good but I think I could do better and I'm going to make my own when I've used this lot up, however there are two things that have made a difference the first is an exercise for the jaw line that I do each night, stick your chin out as far as you can until it kind of hurts (gurning?:rotfl:) and hold it in that position for as long as you can, repeat until you get fed up, this tightens the jaw line, although not a miracle worker I can see the difference if I don't this for a while, the other is to keep yourself at a healthy slim weight, I realise this wont be popular with everyone but for me anyway if I put on a few pounds I get puffy and bloated around the face which does me no favours at all.

Another temporary fix although more for actual wrinkles rather than tone is to mix wrinkle filler in with your foundation, this has been brilliant for me recently and I'm a bit preachy about it now:rotfl:but its just such a great tip originally posted on here by jennie - hth and good luck:)

I'm 47 and it's just happened to me over the last couple of months. I don't have wrinkles but my face is definitely lower. Sod the cream....I'm saving up for a facelift. :D

I'm 43, and I'm starting to notice this too. I don't think creams will make a difference, but maybe facial exercise would (if I could be bothered.) I brought the fresh face book and had a little go, but only do these occasionally.

I also think facial massage with some oil is pretty good for making your face look a bit lifted.

For a short term measure, I agree with the smile advice. If I catch myself in a mirror, or pass someone, I always smile - people probably think I'm the village idiot!

I'm like bronnie and ruthie - I smile as much as I can, even walking down the street by myself. Certainly lifts things a bit!!

    I've been Money Tipped!
If you're a smoker then stop or cur down as much as possible. If you go in the sun then where sunblock.

Carrying a few extra pounds as you age actually plumps out the skin as well :p.

I've tried the olay one and the soap n glory one, the olay one was effective but made my foundation quite a bit paler where the soap n glory one is clearer so no colour change, your supposed to apply to wrinkled areas only, let it dry and then apply make up (or not) but for me this doesn't really make a difference and I find the product especially the soap n glory one rather greasy feeling, its silicone based, and if you use too much (very tempting) it just flakes off. When you mix with foundation (I find it best with quite a matte product) it evens out your whole face and sets without any greasiness or residue and the effect lasts the whole day, I was with family I hadn't seen for a while yesterday and got asked if I had work done (I haven't) purely because of this trick, as shallow as I am this made me very happy:rotfl:

I think its a case of experimenting and finding what works for you:)
